The folks at the Butt Blast seemed to like the gyros. They were gone pretty quickly.

if your cooking it in an egg, these make incredible gyros.

This looks like a good recipe. I think I'll try it with 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef and a half lb of ground lamb though. I kinda like the taste of the Kronos brand gyros (yeah....I know..)

@doubleegger I love this pic:

I'm assuming that's a whole skewer that's sticking down in the meat?
hmmm.....I wonder how that would turn out on a joetisserie...

Yeah. I stuck a skewer in the top to give me something to hold onto while slicing the meat. I insert it after the cook now...

Cut the garlic in half on the meat and the sauce. Trust me.

Here is another one I have made several times:

He gives instructions on how to do on a rotisserie and that is how he did it on his show so I would think it would work greatThrillSeeker said:This looks like a good recipe. @doubleEgger is the gyro sitting in a foil wrapped can?

If I had a rotisserie, this would absolutely be the first thing I would make. I love gyros.NonaScott said:

No. It's just wrapped in foil. Pull off the foil for the last 15 minutes or so to brown the sides.hondabbq said:@doubleEgger is the gyro sitting in a foil wrapped can? -

I too have used Alton Brown's recipe for gyro meat a few times and it comes out great. I have a rotisserie on my gas grill and its a lot of fun. Around Easter, Costco has lamb pretty cheap so I stock up.Orlando, FL

Oh man this looks amazing....

Made this up today with homemade gyro bread. Can you tell which ones I rolled out and which my wife did? Lol.
Followed the Alton brown recipe and halved the garlic like was posted. I think it would have been fine as per the recipe and a bit more salt.
Next time I'll skewer the meat before cooking to avoid the lean.
Very happy with it for a first crack at it. This on the rotation again for sure.
