Lone Star Grillz Vertical Insulated smoker. thinking about getting one. Help!

Momma is actually cool with it so thats nost of the battle.  lone star recommends burning kingsford and i would prefer RO or some other lump carcoal. Is this because of even burning?

Here are my other questions for anyone who has a one of the insulated vertical cabinet smokers:
how long does it maintain 250F with full load?
What fuel do you ise?
How well does it stand up to the ele.ents?
For the larger size, what is the real capacity of it? How many shoul shoulders how many brisket packers will it hold?
Do you need guru with it?
How hard is it to clean?
Where to the other racks go_ the opt 3.  Do you have to order mods to oven in order to get the extra ones installed?
And lastly. It lpoks like it is for smoking only, maybe so.e baking but not nearly as versitile as bge but my purpose in getting one is as a fum to6 but also to do large scale cooks for lparties, tailgates, etc

Thanks in advance for any feedback from anyone in eggnation whonhas ome?

Sounds like you took that Memorial Day brisket cook you organized and are graduating to a whole new level. Web-site info reads like it can handle a whole lot of protein. Congrats on the green light and best of luck.  I'm sure someone who has some true info (rather than envious of your anticipated acquisition) will be along.

There's a big thread on the BBQ Brethren site you might want to read in case you haven't already done so: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/showthread.php?t=185024

You need @SGH to chime in.  He seems to have studied smokers rather extensively, plus lots of hands on experience.  His presence of late seems to have diminished.  Hopefully he'll come along soon.

If you cater or cook for large events go for the standard size. The mini version will be plenty if you don't do big cooks.

The air intake is a 2" ball valve so you can hook up a BBQ guru or flame boss with a guru fan with the right adapter.

The build quality seems to be exceptional.  I had one ordered, but cancelled it since they couldn't modify the cart they build for it. Said they were too busy to make any changes from their stock options.  Still annoyed that they docked 3% of my deposit, even though their website claims they "can build anything ".

Brother Farmer, this has not been by choice. I have really been busy the past few months. In between work and everyday home life I have been trying to remodel my mothers home and clean her property up. She lives a hour away so 2 hours a day I spend just driving. But you are correct, my forum time has been very limited as of late. I'm hoping that around mid September I will be done and can take it easy a while. Get back to cooking and enjoying life.
