Yeah, you aren't gonna get too much sympathy. I'm pretty sure your meal was eventful. Both rubs were very good and vibrant. Looking forward to more testing! Thanks Ron.RRP said:Looks great Pete, but see once again you didn't wait for me to get there tonight...oh never mind I'm eating my steak au poivre and mushrooms here...I forgot...

Thanks Brandon. The MC stuff was really fresh and vibrant. I'm looking forward to trying more of the offerings. The combo with the Lanes Ancho was quite nice. Look forward to seeing you if I'm around.Focker said:Nice lookin' spread Pete.

You wanted to test drive the new rubs, so you combined them? Meal looks fantastic, but how do you know how they are individually?
THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
Well done, looks awesome!

Did that on the advice of others here. I did taste them both prior to applying to the meat. I do have a decent pallet and ability to project what will go well with what. The combo was good and by tasting them individually ahead of time, I have a pretty good sense of each individually. I was a bit reluctant to use the Holy Cow, because it appeared to be more a BBQ rub than a steak rub, but the combo was pretty good.Legume said:You wanted to test drive the new rubs, so you combined them? Thank you sir. It was hot enough outside I prolly could have just set the steaks on the side table and they would've cooked just fine.johnmitchell said:Nicely done sir... Your plate looks so good !!! -

I think it would be best if I moved south, the winters here suck! -
Yeah, nothing special, just direct sear over CI grate with some turns for presentation marks. If you like them more done, I just throw them in foil to rest for a while and they will keep cooking. I go by feel almost always.GoooDawgs said:Amazing! Reverse sear or just direct the whole time?

Looks good. I got some of that Lane's in the exchange, haven't tried it yet, but I see it going on some lamb blade chops this week.
