Basque Nature's Own Sugar Maple at Costco?

I used to purchase this at local Costcos in the Ottawa-Gatineau area (Canada), but haven't seen any since very early spring. Anyone have a lead on some in the area? Good lump at a great price.

A few weeks back we went to local Costco and they were out of stock, just this past weekend I saw another pallet on the floor. That's in southern Ontario so maybe your store will be getting another shipment too.
-
Thanks @chuckytheegghead. Guess I'll keep trying. One thing's for sure - if I see it again, I'm getting a dozen bags! Love the stuff the carry at Costco, but it's such a gamble as far as when they'll have what you need.
-
I'm in southern Ontario too, noticed the recent Costco shortage too. In previous years Basque's was available from early spring through end of summer. At end of last summer it was on clearance and I stocked up

Someone is buying them all up here also, I asked when they were out and they said they just had a full skid, and it's gone. I need to stock up to 12 bags for the winter, I'm up to 10 now.Dave

I can't find anymore in chicoutimi (north of Québec city) they usually had some, but since 2 months, nothing. I buy another basque lump at Rona. Feuille d'érable. 16.99 CAD 8 Kg.Roberval, Qc, Canada

They have never had any in winnipeg. I have asked every year to bring some in. It never happens.
-
It is in stock at the Gatineau warehouse right now____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

Thanks too bad. It's great lump at a bargain price.hondabbq said:They have never had any in winnipeg. I have asked every year to bring some in. It never happens. -
Next best deal for me is Maple Leaf lump at Nella's, haven't bought from them last couple of years though so not sure of the $.canuckland

What is "Nella's"?

I also love that lump, great stuff at a great price. Down to my last 5 bags and getting nervous! I have been checking Costco and still nothing in Etobicoke or Warden and Ellesmere... Hope they get it in again also!!!

@GrateEggspectations my bad, it's Nella Cutlery, a restaurant equipment/service provider in Toronto... http://www.nellacutlery.com/
@YYZegger just came back from Vaughan location, still no stock, not that I need any any time soon.

@canugghead: Will have to check out Nella's next time I'm in Toronto.

IMHO, Maple Leaf is better and is now available at Canadian Tire so I expect to see some sales from time to time____________________Entrepreneurs are simply those who understand that there is little difference between obstacle and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage. •Niccolo Machiavelli

Last time I checked they wanted $18.99 for the Maple Leaf at CT, whereas the Basque was $12.99 at Costco, if I am recalling correctly. However, I will say that I've found a lot of little bits and dust in the Basque as of late.
-
I usually build my stash of Badques when it is on sale at 9.97$ so that's mostly what I use. However, if Maple Leaf was cheaper or close to same same price, I would use Maple Leaf without thinking twice.GrateEggspectations said:Last time I checked they wanted $18.99 for the Maple Leaf at CT, whereas the Basque was $12.99 at Costco, if I am recalling correctly. I called Nella earlier today. Maple Leaf 8Kg bag is $16. If you buy 20 or more bags, price drops to $14. I noticed many small pieces in Basques lately too.canuckland

ML at Home Depot is $19, Basques at Lowe's is $19....ML is the better choice, IMO. Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
Ditto x 2. I've found the basques to be very small pieces, especially if you get bags from near the bottom of a skid. I had a chat with a customer service rep, and they said they've noticed charcoal flying off the shelves when it comes in as well. He told me they were going to look into making it available 12 months a year, depending on what the supplier and their higher-ups say.paqman said:

Thing is, I sometimes like some small pieces, as I find they are really good for restricting airflow on the low and slows, but my last few bags of Basque have featured a lot. However, would love the option of getting it at Costco year-round.

It would appear that Basque’s is available year round at the Costco Business Centre - or at least the one in Ottawa as I spotted it there a few weeks back. -
@GrateEggspectations - I really like Basque's (landed there after striking out too many time looking for Maple Leaf). Around once a year or so I will source three 8 kg bags from a south of the border supplier. I get the shipping charges but nice to change it up every so often.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. I don’t visit Toronto’s Costco Business Centre often but see them available every time. Last time I was there it was 16.99.GrateEggspectations said:

Back in 2014, end of summer clearance at regular Costco. All things considered, even at 18.99 or 19.99 today is decent.
edit: just realized I posted upstream a even better deal in 2016.

Do you remember their price? Last time I was there it was 16.99 or 18.99. Just found a local place selling at 19 plus hstGrateEggspectations said:

Anyone found any in the states?

I find it very good (neutral) and it is relatively cheap in these parts. I believe the Naked Whiz gave it quite a favourable review many years back.loco_engr said:I'm totally intrigued with this Sugar Maple Lump!

I think it was $16.99, but I could be remembering an old price. And yes, I also remember it being $13 or 14 years back. The good ol’ days.
@lousubcap
I’d be glad to send you a pallet, but you’re paying shipping. -
