Question For Middle Tennessee Eggers

Where do you guys get your briskets?

I used to get mine from Wally World, but I've recently been finding them for a decent price (under $3.50/lb) at GFS in Franklin.

Does anyone else have a decent source for briskets in Middle Tennessee?

I wish you luck.. Been searching Nashville for years for consistent, quality packer briskets to no avail. Not pleased with quality (outcome) variation of GFS or Walmart packers. Costco (and I believe Sam's) only have flats. I travel a few times a year to Louisville where the Costco there sells Prime grade packers (15-17lb) for 2.79/lb. I stock up.

Check out the Choppin' Block in Clarksville. They are an Egg dealer and a butcher shop.
  • get a restaurant depot membership (there is one in Nashville). Get the superior angus briskets and plate ribs. Good stuff and very reasonable prices. Costco may be an option but I don't really like their beef program. Even the prime stuff isn't as good as the Superior Angus Choice at RD.

Here's a tip- they will pretty much give anyone a day pass if your say you don't have or "forgot" your card. They are not in the business of sales prevention :)

Great idea Cen-Tex.  I'll give that a try.  The Costco here only has the flats and I'm itching to get some more practice in before I plunk down $200 for a SRF brisket.
