My first bag of Fogo lump charcoal...

These are the first three pieces of lump charcoal that poured out of my first bag of Fogo lump.  That's an XL firebox too!  The largest piece is nearly the size of a football!

    Nice!

Yep. I have to use the ash tool to break it up so I have some small/med pieces. Then use the burned stuff from the large in the MM.

You must have the industrial strength ash tool, I have resorted to a brick hammer in a 5 gallon bucket.
FOGO seems to put at least a dozen or so really big pieces in each 40# bag, their Quebracho is packed the same. Good problem to have as Dad always said you can make a big chunk smaller but you can't make dust or little chunks bigger....

  • Amazon had a sale last year and after that first bag I won't use anything else
  • A neighbor pointed me to Fogo lump charcoal... quality stuff from my limited experience!  Although... I kind of feel bad for the delivery guy when ordering from Amazon. Wonder if I should have a pulled pork sammich ready for him on the next delivery?

How do you like their Quebracho?

I'm keeping an eye out for the next sale on Amazon.com...  Because I'll be using my Amazon Prime membership to stock up!

Yep, I bought my first couple of bags directly from Fogo.  Hopefully, the next Amazon.com sale happens before I run out!

Doubt you will see an Amazon sale again. Too many people use it now. I still have 3 of the 35lb bags left from the sale it was $28 a bag and prime shipping.

I love Fogo.  Big chunks are a gift as I am learning.  Also like Basques Sugar Maple Hardwood Lump Charcoal from Canada and Rockwood.

I have a camel camel camel alert set up because I got three bags that time and gifted two of them. Next sale, they won't be so lucky!!

FWIW, anyone looking for something similar to Fogo, Wicked Good Jakes Blend is as good in my opinion but doesn't come in as big of chunks. I got in on that Fogo deal almost 18 months ago and still have one bag left. Going in on a pallet of Wicked Good is the only reason I still have one left, it's good stuff and I really don't have any good reason for saving it this long LOL. Still waiting on another deal at $28 a bag.

Anyone local to the ATL Roswell Hardware sells 2 of the 17.6 lb bags for $40. It's the same stuff as the 35lb bags it's not the red bags.

I did a 9 hour low & slow cook today...  And that giant chunk only burned maybe 30% through - Wow!
