How bad did I screw up??

Spent some time removing a seriously burnt on gasket on our old XL. Onice cleaned couldn't help but notice both gasket surfaces were anything but smooth...could feel how wavey they are. Opened up a tube of HiHeat Permatex. Glued on the Rutland gasket I got from Ron. And let it sit with the dome sitting on it overnight. Left the dome band loose. Inserted dollars in 90* increments. Struggled to get them out....except for the front. There it pulled out with damn near 0 effort. If the dollar pulls out that easy with the band being loose is there any point in fighting with it?
Not that this will help but I will be buying another band kit for this one soon, this one is beyond loose...

Try a U.S. Grant - maybe your egg is a 1%er.....and will hold onto the bill worth its effort!
Is it tougher at the rear? Maybe after the Rutland sets in it will improve....Delta B.C. - Whiskey and steak, because no good story ever started with someone having a salad! -
WHOA, Doug! Don't despair! All were tight except for the front - you say? Just take a marker or tape and then determine where the looseness starts and ends. Then using a gauge feeler which knowing you I'm sure you have figure out approximately how large or "tall" that gap is. Then using a flat blade putty knife carefully lift up the Rutland and squirt fresh Permatex under and put the dome back down for another 24 hour cure. @Skiddymarker....it is very tight...everywhere except for the center of the front and perhaps 2" going both ways. Gasket is very well stuck, don't know if trying to add any RTV under it is a good idea. What if I were to build up the dome with RTV where it is not tight?

@RRP has a good thought - he is the expert on using Rutlands from a number of comments seen here. I like gaskets on both surfaces to compensate for any "wonkiness" in the surface of base or dome.
Wonder if it really matters if you are going to reband anyway?

NO - please read and follow my suggested solution. I haven't been doing this gasket service for 14 years now and steering people wrong.
