is there any difference in the BBQ Guru DigiQ2 and the Big Green Egg DigiQ2? The Big Green Egg is a lot more expensive. The only difference I see is the name on the unit.

Same.....either way, better alternatives out there. DigiQ is the oldest technology, yet one of the most expensive for the [lack of] features. Plus, the replacement parts are the most expensive too.

Avoid ANYTHING from BBQ Guru. Their customer service sucks. Get a FlameBoss 200 if you want something with WiFi. I had a problem with my DigiQ, took several months to get the problem resolved...had a problem with the FlameBoss....warranty unit was in my hands the next day. My DigiQ temps, on both probes, floated around. FlameBoss is rock stable.

I have had a DigiQ for 2 years and it works like a champ. No issues. Only down side is lack of WiFi.

I own a DigiQ, bought it when I bought the XL. I have since used it 40+ (More likely double that because I have loaned it to others for their cooks) times, and the performance is rock solid. Lacks Wi Fi, and is a AC driven unit. If those features are worrisome, @stlouischarcoal might know somebody
that can help you with your selection.
As far as I am concerned, I have been thrilled with the performance of the DigiQ2, and have never had a warranty issue with it, even though I have abused it worse, than a rented mule. It goes in all weather, holds temps, is so easy to use right out of the box and has never had a problem. Only thing I have done, is clean the probes prior to the next cook.
I hope to get a couple hundred cooks out of it before I even consider anything else, based on the performance thus far, it will.

You're paying extra for the bge name tag. Same unit as far as I know. I've had a DigiQ for about 6 years. Never an issue with it so I don't know about customer service. I don't use it all that often though.
When I bought it, the only ones I knew of were the DigiQ and the Stoker. For me, "no wifi" is not a down side, it's a plus! One of the reasons I didn't buy the Stoker.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Hope I didn't make it sound like I was knocking the reliability or performance. Good controller and does the job for many years. It's just the oldest or all of them, yet still commanding a high price.
Gateway2000 made good computers, but I doubt anyone would fork over $2000 for a Pentium 64mb RAM w/ 1GB hard drive nowadays.
$25 for a single probe or up to $40 for an adapter is also ridiculous. The fact that they axed their entire dealer network should give everyone an idea of where they're headed. Better support & better bang for your buck elsewhere, but still a good performing controller if that what your heart is set on. -
Been doing some research on the new SmoBot temp controller, they say the two most (and I'll paraphrase) popular controllers on the market are not accurate, that their temps are based on an algorithm.
SmoBot's temp #'s are real time and have all the bells and whistles that the big boys have.

I have a DigiQ DX2 that i ordered from either them directly or from Firecraft, either way it was cheaper than the BGE branded one. Im sure there are newer temp controllers out there now, I got the DigiQ because many others have used and praised it and has been solid and reliable.

I am a competition cook and I will say that you will see far more DigiQ DX controllers on the competition circuit than any other. I use one and have been completely satisfied.

Anyone ever use the "ramping" feature? I have not.

I have never used it either. I never really saw a need. -
Looks like they're having a sale $219. I've been nothing but happy with mine.LBGE (still waitin' for my free T-Shirt), DIgiQ DX2 (In Blue, cause it's the fastest), Heavy Duty Kick Ash Basket, Mc Farland, WI.

If it wasn't for my BGE I'd have no use for my backyard... -
Does it come with a 5 1/4 inch floppy disk drive?stlcharcoal said:Gateway2000 made good computers, but I doubt anyone would fork over $2000 for a Pentium 64mb RAM w/ 1GB hard drive nowadays.Flint, Michigan -

I've adjusted my sleep a couple of times to pull meat off that finished earlier than expected. I may try it next time just to test it out.smokeyw said:GATraveller said:Anyone ever use the "ramping" feature? I have not.
