Australian Grassfed Boneless Ribeye
reload
Posts: 267
I just bought three Australian ribeyes at a new local grocery store. I'm starting to think I might have screwed up. They look very lean compared to the ribeyes I typically purchase.

grassfed is always very lean. Much better for you but not as easy to get the big beefy flavor that comes from all the grain fed fat.
make sure not to go past like 130-ish on the temp. They need to be on the low side of your doneness preference.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX -
They look good to me. I bet they'll be great. I agree with cen-tex,go a little more rare than usual.

grassfed taste good, but true grassfed beef is very lean, and generally doesn't get a grade.
It's good stuff, just have to treat it well to make it be a treat as intended.-FATC1TY

I try to avoid grassfed whenever possible. Grainfed to me has better marbling and beef flavor.
Grassfed is very trendy hipster beef around my area. -
Grassfed boosted till people realize it's honestly.. only healthier because it's leaner.
But if you enjoy a good meal, and splurge, grassfed isn't worth the money. Same as leaner ground beef for burgers.. who does it? It's more expensive too?!-FATC1TY

it is leaner but the fat it contains is actually loaded with Omega 6 like salmon and it's non-saturated. Grain and corn fed beef are loaded with Omega 3's and saturated fat. Grass fed beef is very good for you- I just dont care for the taste in many cases.FATC1TY said:Grassfed boosted till people realize it's honestly.. only healthier because it's leaner.

FYI- sardines are loaded with a whole lot of Omega 3's but you can't BGE them worth a damn. (And yes, I figured that out before I tried...) Best out of the can with a shot of hot mustard in a sandwich. FWIW-
