Question about the cracks

So I have a question about the cracks....do they get worse and does it impact the way the egg cooks...

reason I ask, is I'm coming from Stumps smokers and they have an automotive paint job on them from the factory....well after a year or two of smoking, the paint on the firebox does flake and you eventually have to hit it with a metal wheel if it starts to rust and some rustoleum (sp?)...

If the crack never gets worse, is it really a big deal....?

No worries with cracks on fire ring or fire box. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with any cracks on the exterior ceramics if cooking on a deck or wooden surrounding

I have been cooking with a crack in my Mini for almost 2 years with no problem, always at 400 as I mostly do steaks, chops, burgers, chicken breast and dogs on it. Have a replacement just to lazy to switch. I would not be worried about a crack in dome but have never heard of one.

no problem. Personally I think a crack in the ring or box merely means stress in the piece that caused the crack has now been relieved, Egg on!!!

The little cracks in the exterior glaze are normal.  I've cooked for 1 year with my ring in 2-3 pieces and my firebox cracked.  Replaced the parts under warranty and it cooked better with the cracks!  Go figure!

Now I've got to get used to the Smokewear cap and air flow with it!
