Suggestion for a CI pan for minimax

I'm looking to sear some steaks and need a good cast iron pan for a minimax. What is a good size and brand?

What are you looking to do with it? Its more than likely going to have to be modified with the handle shaved off or you'll have to find one with the mini-tabs for handles.

10" will fit the minimax easily, the lid doubles as a skillet -

I use this one in my MM a lot (very versatile). Note: works at direct grid level, raised direct and raised indirect using a WOO or standard PS set-up.

It's actually 13" across the handles. I don't think that will work. I like it though! -
Truthfully, I wouldn't worry about which cast iron will fit on a MM.. I have used my lodge cast iron skillet about 50 times more on the rangetop.

12.6" according to the link. i will try it tonight on my kj jr and report back (assuming i remember)smokeyw said:tonyled said:http://www.amazon.com/Lodge-L8DD3-Casserole-Skillet-5-Quart/dp/B000LEXR0K/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1461176183&sr=8-3&keywords=lodge+cast+iron+dutch+oven

for the record i was referring to the lid alone, i dont think the whole dutch oven would fit in the lid of the minimax -
I use this on my KJ Jr. It fits perfectly as is but I know you would have to grind off the wings/handles for it to fit on the MiniMax (even then it might be just a slosh to big tho) - http://www.amazon.com/Victoria-Reversible-Griddle-Removable-Cool-Touch/dp/B00I2YKQCI?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. If all you want to do is sear, then you don't need to close the lid, then you don't need to worry if the handle sticks out the side.THEdexaTRON said:

Bring your steak to 120f on the grill at a <300º dome. Remove and cover with a towel.
Open the bottom vent, lift the lid, put the iron on.
When the iron is good and hot, put that steak back on to sear it. Watch your temp - 5º before halfway to target, flip it.

Any suggestions for Large BGE. I am looking to expand my cooking and the CI pan is the next thing I am adding to the team.
I just need a good all around pan. ThanksDallas, TX - 1 Large BGE, 28in Blackstone

It does fit, just used it the other night for smash burgers on the MM, dome closed no problem. I would wait for the price to come down though, I paid around $35 for mine from Amazon.THEdexaTRON said:

That is my favorite Lodge piece, aside from an old #10 Lodge skillet I found for $10. The classic #12 DO with legs is up there too for the newer Lodge line.

Get a Lodge 12 skillet and cut the handles off. I have one that I use all of the time on the Small egg (same grid space on the MiniMax) - just use an angle grinder, 10 minutes and you are ready to go.
