2 half pounders seared at 550 dome ( I am guessing the CI was 625/650) I let the CI preheat for 30 minutes then 2 minutes a side, one was 125/130 and the other was 145/150 which is over cooked for me. Not sure why they were 20 degrees IT different, Great burger served with oven

Looks good! I gave it a run on Friday for the first time too. I think I still prefer a thick burger better, but the wife likes thin so they will still be in the rotation.Large and Small BGECentral, IL

These may have been to thick to be called a true/real smash burger, after all they were 1/2 pound of 80/20 each.saluki2007 said:Looks good! I gave it a run on Friday for the first time too. Do you always let the CI heat up for that duration? I usually go for like 3-5 minutes, is there any difference? Burgers look great.

I am knew to cooking burgers on the CI, I do however reverse sear steaks this way most of the time, I believe I seen pre heating the CI 20/30 minutes would give you a great sear and it works great for me.BYS1981 said:Do you always let the CI heat up for that duration? Sounds good. I'll give it a try and compare if I remember. I did steak the other night on my CI and noticed that I didn't get a crust until about 5 minutes in.
