Thermapen mk4

Once again I would like to thank this forum and its members for spending my money. I read a thread about the must have accessories for a BGE and a lot of you recommended a thermapen, so my wife needed some baking stuff and we went to a local store and sure enough they had them. She wasn't too pleased at the price tag but now it will be much easier getting things bang on.

    I really think that after using it for a while, you'll wonder how you ever cooked without it!  I take mine with me traveling in case I might cook something.  Whether in the Egg or in the kitchen, I use it anytime I want meat, pork, chicken, etc., to be right.  It's just so much faster than any so-called "instant-read" thermometer I've ever had that it's a joy to use and really helpful.

    It really is a nice tool to have around the kitchen. Expensive up front but definitely worth the price once you realize how much it gets used

    As with certain other things, it's just nice to know you will not have to worry about buying another one anytime soon, though I know some on here own more than one for reasons unknown by me.

    I have the same exact one. I really have been impressed with it thus far. Any idea how long the battery will last?

    From what I have heard quite a long time. I know the Original Thermapen can go for an unbelievable amount of time (2+ years) I am not too worried as this one takes AAA batteries and I have plenty of those.

    I think a couple members have never changed batteries in the 6 or so years they've owned them

    I bought one around christmas and I love it. Just don't go folding it against your hand immediately after taking the temperature like I did. I'm not going to make that mistake twice :)

    I wish Thermoworks would make the batteries for my power tools.  I've got that continuous read ThermaQ.    The thing has hundreds of hours and still haven't changed the battery.

    Always fun to spend someone else's money!  =)     I keep hoping that my 8 year old thermapen will break so I can get one of the new ones.

    Mine died after 7 years so I contacted Thermapen and they gave me a discount on a new MK4. The thing is awesome.
    Happily egging on my original large BGE since 1996... now the owner of 5 eggs. Call me crazy, everyone else does!

    Well I just bought a second one. I would always take mine with me to my camp and on more than one occasion have left it down there only to get home and have to do without for a few weeks til I could get back down there. I solved that problem.
