Weber joining the Kamado game
Saw they are coming out with a new smoker/grill on April 6th. After searching a couple forums found this. Looks like it could be cool one post said it has been in development for 10 years.
Early last week our rep showed us the video run down of what Weber is announcing on April 6th. If you're a charcoal lover, I'm confident you'll be excited.
Weber is going after the high-end / premium charcoal market (Green Egg, Primo, etc.)
It is NOT ceramic. It is NOT a pellet grill. This is done the "Weber" way.
Pricing - $1,999CDN / $2,499CDN depending on the model that you choose.
If this works anywhere as good as they say, I haven't been this excited for a Weber grill in a long time.
That's $1500/$1883 US dollars. <gulp>

They are on order. Supposed to only be available at alliance dealers. Our rep demo'd them for my wife and father, but I was unable to be there. One nice feature is that he loaded and the grill in and out of his van by himself. I'm curious too. Definitely not inexpensive.

@pgprescott - what no clandestine pics? Next week will be here soon enough.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Is it metal inside and out? If the insulation is sandwiched, many more options that could make it lighter.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

Wasn't there. I was surprised they didn't debut at the show in NO, but they didn't.lousubcap said:@pgprescott - what no clandestine pics? Next week will be here soon enough. -

My dealer was (also a Weber dealer) was given the chance to be one of few "exclusives" in the local market for the new product. It is metal, double walled dome type of thing. He says they sell so few kettles - like none - he passed. Not impressed with the new product.New Albany, Ohio

I have seen the 64oz Yeti Thermos, however! A 32 oz and 18 oz Thermos also hitting the market this week:

Blaze Grills is coming out with an all aluminum kamado soon: http://www.blazegrills.com/product/blaze-kamado-coming-soon/
Golden makes a cast iron kamado so whether Weber is all metal too we'll just have to wait a few more days to see.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -

At the price they seem to be retailing at perhaps they will be made from something exotic like metal foam which would offer lighter weight but good insulation.WeberWho said:It will be interesting to see what the difference is between the Weber kamado and the Big Steel Keg“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Yeah if it is actually $1500 for basically a big steel keg crossed with a weber performer (table plus gas assist) then that doesn't excite me much. It is going to be a "summit" series so I guess their demographic might be people with high priced gassers that want to add charcoal/smoking. I don't see them taking much business away from existing Kamdo manufacturers if it is more expensive.
Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg. -

This is a pretty useless promotional video. You just see some jackbutt with his t-shirt on standing in front of something that you can almost make out, surrounded by a ton of smoke.THEBuckeye said:
