I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!hondabbq said:Music is like candy..........First thing you do is throw out the rapper.
I've/we've tried rapping in a couple of the bands I've been in over the years, and it's definitely a skill and a talent that's beyond me. However, I've never really cared listening to it. I like melody.“All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.”

Brilliant line-up. Look I'm a MASSIVE classic rock fan, I bleed Rolling Stones riffs, but I also grew up in a very "rap friendly" area and absolutely loved the old-school rap (which was new school at the time). NWA's Straight Outta Compton was my generations Sgt. Pepper in my opinion. That album changed many things, good and bad but it's power was undeniable. Simply amazing.YEMTrey said:Good lord people.

You're selling yourselves short if as a lover of music you haven't listened/enjoyed these sounds and lyrics.
I guess it's generational, but I'm 41 and having N.W.A., 2Live and others dropped on me in Junior High was very impressionable.
I would humbly add De La Soul, a very underrated group who have a long string of excellent releases. Also, I go way back to the days of Beat Street so many of the really old school stuff is awesome to me as well. Melle Mel, Treacherous Three, Boogie Down Productions all had massive influence on me.
I also loved death metal too so yeah I'm weird.Firing up the BGE in Covington, GA -
Nice Eric B and Rakim reference @YEMTrey hardly see them mentioned any more.
nobody's mentioned Run DMC, huge crossover impact in the 80sTHANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER -
My thoughts exactly.........Fred19Flintstone said:You misspelled crap. It's a common mistake because the "c" is silent. -
I have no idea who the above people are (chalk it up to "ignorant musical genre tolerance")..yet I'm pretty sure that every single one of them would all fall in to the above category and my point.nolaegghead said:
You'll probably disagree with me but Reb Rebel Records and Johnny Rebel were KKK oriented genres.Eggzellent said:I can't think of a single more damaging category of music in human history this side of whatever is played at cult gatherings than what has sold millions of souls for the devil himself.
The freedom to say what one would like does not extend to where this category of (cough) 'music' degraded to. Nor is it "OK" to approve of your children listening to it anywhere within your earshot merely because one lives and breathes to be their BFF.
'Rap' should have been used to flag a wholesale shift in tolerance. Instead it was used to illustrate how millions of parents would not give a rip as to what their kids played within their earshot..let alone ever viewed on their computers. -
Well spoken. Agree 100%hondabbq said:Music is like candy..........First thing you do is throw out the rapper. -

I just need to get this off my chest ...
I hate the Beatles, and can barely tolerate the Rolling Stones.
I much prefer Aerosmith, AC/DC, and Van Halen.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Some of you have bad opinions, since I do not agree with them.

Not a big rap fan but there's stuff I like. Bone thugs for sure! And missy Elliott is a genius.Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle

I find the stuff that really sticks in my head are dual genre type music. Such as Blackstone Cherry kinda country rock, Yelawolf or linkin park kinda rap/rock or the hard rock/metal bands especially the covers such as disturbed's or five finger death punch. Heck even Nathaniel Radcliffe is almost a genre in itself rock/oldies?? lol
