I gotta side with Mrs. Chubbs here if in fact she dumped the shrimp. Chubbs left the door open and created the risk. It would be reasonable to toss them. The first Mrs. Flintstone fed me bad chicken once and I was sick as a dog for DAYS.SGH said:

@Fred19Flintstone
Brother Fred, as I said above, I would definitely lay a good eye on the shrimp or any seafood for that matter. But there is no way I would throw out a freezer full of pork and beef. No way my friend. Not for no longer than the door was open. Now with that said, if there was some circumstance that was not mentioned, like the freezer was outdoors and it was summer time, then I would probably be a little more cautious. But with a indoor, working freezer, that the door was merely left open on for a while, I would pull the shrimp and close the door and never look back my friend.

Almost 30 years ago I left the freezer door open one day. When I returned home from work everything had thawed out. I had quiet a few chicken pot pies that were previously frozen but had now completely thawed.
I asked my self, do you feel lucky? I did indeed feel lucky that fateful day.
I proceed to cook a couple of the pot pies.
I'm guessing you know how this ended, well it ended in full blown food poisoning.
I have a faint recollection of begging for death, however there was no mercy for me.
I have never been so sick, neither before or since that day. -
Haha. I was out of town and back today. Shrimp was tossed. Everything else is in there. Although @GregW has me thinking. Don't want my kids getting sick.Columbia, SC --- LBGE 2011 -- MINI BGE 2013

@Chubbs
Just curious, if you saw the shrimp had they totally thawed? If so, did they have a smell? Where I'm going with this is if a small shrimp hadn't thawed totally out, there is no way possible a chunk of meat weighing several pounds did.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Food poisoning is really bad. Wondering wether you threw away a couple bucks, is not nearly as bad. And kids? No way I'd fed mine something I debated on. (Not that I'm judging here, just offering an opinion.)Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

There was a much stronger smell than normal. I am from the lowcountry so know my shrimp. These were no Bueno. $80 worth of jumbo roe shrimp. Sucks. Jury still out on chicken and pork. It got refrozenSGH said:@Chubbs

??? Kids first. They are tough. They will recover. If they don't get sick its game on for me.Jeremiah said:Food poisoning is really bad. That's one thing kids are good for. Just feed them some of the shrimp, wait 24-48 hours.
