Moink Balls and ABTs

I don't know if this is worth posting, but I haven't posted much in a
while, so here goes. I made Moink Balls for the first time, don't know
if these were the right kind of meatballs, but got all-beef meatballs
frozen at my regular grocery store, wrapped them in bacon, smoked them,
brushed them with sauce, set it. They were good, but I over-reacted to
my stepdaughter having said that the idea sounded good but not the BBQ
sauce, and I went light on the sauce. She thought they were great the
way they were, which I think means she would have been fine if I'd just
gone ahead and followed the recipe and dunked them in the sauce, which
would have given them more coating. I almost think another time I might
dunk them, set it, dunk them again, set it.
I'd be interested to know if those who make Moink Balls say these are similar: they were about golf-ball size. Somehow I had thought they looked smaller in pictures I've seen of Moink Balls. Did I use the wrong kind?
I also made ABTs the usual way, jalapenos, cream cheese, lil' smokies, bacon, and they were really good. I didn't have any DP Jamaican Firewalk, which is my favorite rub for those. I forget what I used instead, but they were good.

Looks good and I think what you bought is just fine for this application. That's doubly true if you liked it (which is really the only thing that matters).
I like to brush MOINKs with a sauce thinned with AC vinegar then hit them with some rub sprinkled on top. I also like to thread them onto a skewer rather than toothpicks, just because it's easier to move or flip 6 or so at a time rather than each one.

Very interesting on the sauce/vinegar first, then rub. Might try that. The skewer thing sounds like a great idea! Turning them all was a major pain.Black_Badger said:...
