Hey YukonRon, are you on commision with SRF?  Would like to know their spike in sales after your post.  Had to be considerable judging by the posts on here, and that doesn't account for those who ordered and didn't post.

Most of the folks on here likely got the same email I did. Some new folks may not have so I posted for those that may not have received notification. I know I enjoy their products, and love the service. SRF and the BGE keep me broke. Can't wait for next week!

May as well jump in and up the insanity level.  Ordered a ribeye cap and a couple cowboy steaks.  Will look for a couple briskets next week.

FYI - if you guys want to get in on the brisket sale on Monday, do it early.  We only have a certain amount of each size that we're going to sell at the discount.  We expect them to go pretty quickly, especially when you have the competitive BBQ guys stocking up for multiple competitions.

Just my friggin luck-trapped all day Mon-Weds of next week in a training session where there is no outside internet access.  I will give it a look before sentencing begins but given the usual timing of the SRF emails I will be hosed.
This may be an omen...and not a good one.
I am going to have a powerful cocktail and pretend I did not read the above from @SRFShane.

Well @lousubcap  - I'm the guy that puts this stuff on sale on the website, and I have an alarm set for 10PM (MST) this Sunday night to do it...so if you really want to get in on it, you could check late Sunday.  Not that I'm trying to talk you into it..... B)

@SRFShane - mission accomplished.  Life just got a whole lot better.  And it was a most excellent cocktail as well.
Thank you so much for the insight as I usually wait for the email before making the buy but will get on the site early. That's what makes doing business with SRF such a pleasure.

I have never stayed up late to order meat before. Planning on getting my first SRF brisket. Any idea how long the 12-14lb will take to thaw in the fridge?

Thanks. Ground beef showed up today ready for some burgers this weekend.
  • Since I'm cooking the one in the fridge for Sunday lunch, Sunday night seems like a good time to replenish...

@SRFShane, What is the typical shipping time to Georgia? For example, if I ordered a smaller brisket Sunday night, could I expect to receive my order and have time for it to thaw for a cook on the following Saturday?

@swcham -  you may want to visit their web site and then give their customer service a call.  And regarding receiving your order, as above it takes a good 3-4 days to thaw a brisket in the fridge, so depending on your shipping method would impact eat delivery date and thus thaw and cook date.  FWIW-
BTW-welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.

Thanks @lousubcap, been reading and egging for a little over a year, don't post much though, crazy work hours and a 2 year old take up a lot of my time!

@Lit, thanks for the info, makes me a little worried about planning a brisket cook for Saturday night ordering only Sunday night...may need a backup plan.

standard shipping is like 2-3 days.. usually 2 for me just south of atlanta.

It will arrive solid as a rock too. Pull it out, fridge, and thawed in roughly.. 3 days? trim it a bit and it's ready to go.

Order sunday.. pick the date you want it to arrive and do it 3-4 days before you plan to cook.

and... I was gonna order some ribeye caps, and some ground beef.. and then saw the srf ribeye filets were only 6 oz... 10 is a bit large for us and 6 leaves us wanting just a bite or two more.. need some sales on 8oz @SRFShane

But brisket sale? I have two in the freezer and want more. I'll be on Monday morning at the office to stock up on atleast two more so I can cook some into the spring/summer.

I've only spent 1K on meat since Christmas, why stop right? jesus it's out of control. shoot me a coupon code!

I'm not sure if Georgia is 2 or 3 days (for our cheapest shippping option).  Our support folks can tell you tomorrow.  Worst case, it's 3 days - in which case if order before 10AM MST on Monday, it will ship out that day and arrive on Thursday (assuming no delays for weather or UPS screw up).  As mentioned, it will be frozen solid.  I don't think it will be ready if you just put it in the fridge.  I would suggest putting it in the fridge, then pulling it out Friday night or Saturday morning.  Drop it in the bathtub (still in the cryovac) full of cold water - change the water every 45 minutes or so (this is easier if you keep it in the styrofoam cooler too...then you don't have to fill up the whole tub, just the cooler).  4 or 5 hours of this will thaw it out quickly, and you should be good to go.

@SRFShane, thanks for the info. Sounds like I may be able to pull it off!
  • My Kobe filet and top sirloin steak arrived yesterday. Can't wait to try them. My first experience with SRF was awesome for Kobe burgers can't wait to try the steak.
