What's the coldest temp you've ever Egged in?

It's going to be about -9* Saturday night, and while I know that isn't too unusual for some High Plains Eggers, and Canadian Eggers, and Scandinavian Eggers, it's pretty damn cold for Northeastern Pennsylvania. And no, I'm not going to be cooking outdoors. That's why we have an oven and a stove and slow cooker and a microwave.
The coldest I've ever used the BGE was probably mid 20s, I did some ribs a couple months ago. It used a bit more fuel to keep the temp up, but no big deal, the ribs were excellent.
Whats the coldest outdoor temp during which you've Egged? And I mean with your BGE actually out in the cold, not under a shelter? How cold for a short cook, like wings, chicken, steak, etc? And how about for a butt or brisket? What was the occasion, if any?

Tried to edit....0*, was just burgers. Had 0 issues. Cooked some ribs on it when it was 9*. Used a Pit Controller so holding the temp. Was easy...

I have no idea. Probably around 0° =/- 5°. Don't know how many times I've done it or what I cooked. No big deal though. It's not like I go out there and sit in the lounge chair with a cold drink.
One guy on the other forum lives in northern Minnesota. ISTR him mentioning cooking at -30ish, maybe colder.I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Just south of zero air temperature for me. It was a turkey.Stillwater, MN

-5F for me during the Polar Vortex in Maryland. Very refreshing! Did ribs and burgers. The nice part about it being that cold is you don't really feel it since your skin goes numb.

I always do low n slows during the winter here in KC. A lot of nights the wind chills were -10 with a temp of 0-10f Never a problem. I feel like it thrives in that weather!

When its below 20* I start looking in the fridge for leftovers.

I think around 0* but I have no clue. Temperature doesn't decide what I have for dinner. I just have to make sure I drink my beverage fast enough it doesn't freeze. Or forget it outside so it does freeze.....I raise my kids, cook and golf. SoCal - just above 45 degrees. Freakin cold!!!I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

I would say about 38F.

During the day I think it was 60 that was way to cold for me ... I won't do low and slows during the winter because we have way to many days of sunshine to be cooking in the coldHermosa Beach CA

40°F a few times.

-10F here. But this is my first winter with my Egg. I'm sure I'll beat that with time.Glencoe, Minnesota

That was at -10 it got to about -15 or so at 3:30 am when I pulled it... This is also my first winter with my egg... Got it as a wedding gift in June.

I am guessing about 70ºF.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -
I egged in a pool of liquid nitrogen once.

For me, about 102*. The hottest it usually gets midsummer here is low 90s. Some years we get high 90s, every few years we get 100ish.Chubbs said:Can we play what is the hottest temp you have egged in?

I've egged at 20 degrees and probably 105 and anywhere in between. Good ole Alabama weather.

I'm going to guess about 105 for me. I've grilled at 108, but that was before I got my egg. Having a pool makes this a much more enjoyable proposition.Chubbs said:Can we play what is the hottest temp you have egged in?
Floating in the pool with some good music on the outdoor speakers sipping on a cold beverage and smelling BBQ smoke surrounded by family is about as good as it gets.

The temp isn't what makes you miserable in NOLA....it's the heat index - we rarely get temps over 100F, but we commonly get in the 90s with 85% and up humidity. The heat index goes through the roof and it's miserable.northGAcock said:
