Leftover pulled pork, scrambled eggs topped with a Kraft singles slice then doused with Tiger Sauce.
Very low carb and high flavor way to start the day. Low carb is helping with the weight loss and sugar numbers.

Thanks for the encouragement. Sounds like you had some good success doing what I am trying. My numbers are way outta whack. 324 sugar, 10.5 A1C, 653 triglycerides, 250 cholesterol. Gotta make some real changes.bhedges1987 said:I lost 40 lbs on my low carb high fat diet in 4 months. Everyone of my blood tests back back tons better too. Tryglicerides dropped over 400 points.

I have been LCHF-ing for over 3 years now. I've had a number of stalls (am in one now) but have lost over 110 lbs. I am VERY carb sensitive - if I go over 50 gm/day for more than 2 or 3 days I start to put weight back on.
BTW that breakfast looks great - I have eggs and some sort of breakfast meat every day.Kevin

Our local thrift store had several Atkins, South Beach and other low carb diet and cookbooks that I picked up for about $1 each. Lots of ideas and info in each one. I am trying to cut out carbs but still eat good carbs like fresh veggies. Looks like no more bread, cake, biscuits, potatoes, pasta etc...and I even have to cut way back on fresh fruit because of the amount of natural sugars that my body can't handle. Good luck to you.jabam said:

I won't lie, giving up bread is tough, but you can do it. Hardest thing for me was probably soft drinks as I had developed quite a Coke and Mtn. Dew habit. Also hard to give up potato chips, ketchup, sweet BBQ sauce and tater tots. Now, I don't really miss them much and am about used to diet drinks but I do worry about the artificial sweeteners.Thatgrimguy said:Looks good.. if you do decide to eat a piece of bread, lather it with extra butter, make it a treat once a month, the extra fat from the butter helps against those bread carbs and how your body processes it

Yeah... the mexican food is hard for me!
My doctor told me " You couldn't get cholesterol as high as yours even if you ate bacon every day for the rest of your life, you need to eat whole grains"....
Instead I started eating tons of bacon, cheese, sausage, ribs, brisket, pulled pork, fish, peanut butter...... and low and behold.... I lost 40 pounds and cholesterol and trygliceriedes dropped DRAMATICALLY.
Breakdown: Eat everything you want that doesn't have sugar or bread.
My typical day is:
Wake up - Deli, cheese, peanut butter
If I'm hungry, i make a chicken breast with guacamole and some red peppers
dinner- I go to a mexican restaurant and order nachos and cheese with NO chips.
In between that I will make like a veggie shake... unsweetened coconut milk- spinach, and some strawberries (best fruit with hardly any sugar) this is so I keep getting my veggies.
100% dark chocolate mixed with a few semi sweet chocolate chips
whip cream
But honestly... I go through a jar of peanut butter every week, a pound of cheese every week, tons and tons and tons of bbq with either light sauce, or no sauce. I'll go grab some sausage from a local BBQ shop and go next door and get some cheese dip from a mexican restaurant, and dip the sausage in it
Moral of the story..... That old food pyramid information is WAY WAY WAY incorrect, and new studies are proving it all the time.
Once you are on it about a month or two, I start doing cheat days on the weekend and go get my mexican and dessert fix.
** edit.... I grill a lot of burgers to, and top with bacon, cheese, and NO bread. I then dip it in guacamole.

I really didn't have a hard time giving up potatoes or wheat products. Rice was a little harder. And life is much better since I discovered low carb tortillas - 9 gm net carbs. It's what I'll use when I attempt a pizza on the egg.

Keep up the good work fellas!!!
I need some inspiration. I need to drop a lot of weight, but have no drive to do so. The egg doesn't seem to help, to much good food coming off of it. haha
I have a long canoe/camping trip in the spring time that will be really rough if I don't drop a few pounds and get my lungs healthy.
I just like meat, potatoes, cheese, bread, bread, and more bread way too much. And that usually leads to naps afterwards.... -
Yeah, I love rice, especially jambalaya, Asian, even plain ole white rice topped with gravy. Those low carb tortillas are tasty.55Kevy said:I really didn't have a hard time giving up potatoes or wheat products. Rice was a little harder. The thing that is helping me the most with the low carb eating is not being hungry. You can do it without hunger, you just have to eat differently. I have tried deprivation dieting and constant hunger and cravings does not work for me. Yes you have to give up lots of good stuff, but you can still eat lots of good stuff too. I'm going to stick with this until my next doctor appointment in mid-April then see how much weight I lose and how my blood work numbers have changed.Cashfan said:Keep up the good work fellas!!!

Eggs and some sort of meat for me just about every day as well. Today...eggs, spam, spam, spam, eggs and spam.55Kevy said:I have been LCHF-ing for over 3 years now. We just went through this when hubby was diagnosed with type II diabetes. We found a few things that helped. One was Ezekiel bread, which is made with sprouted wheat. The body digests that differently than regular wheat. Don't know why, but it works. The other tough one for him was giving up Cokes. We got a Soda Stream machine that makes soda, but we just make plain carbonated water and add the juice of 1/2 a lime or lemon to each container. Very refreshing and tasty. We have actually discovered that we prefer brown rice over white rice. Go figure. When he changed his diet, he lost over 20 pounds the first month. Fast forward to now and his levels are normal again. We still watch what he eats carefully. You can do this guys and gals! Kick those carbs.

I have looked at one of those soda stream machines simply to try to cut back on diet sodas. Carbonated water with lime or lemon may be just the thing I need to kick out the diet drinks with all the artificial sweeteners.Dredger said:We just went through this when hubby was diagnosed with type II diabetes. Thanks for the tip on the Ezekiel bread, I have not heard of that one.

@epcotisbest we got the Soda Stream at Walmart. They will refill the gas canister there. We bought additional containers and make the soda once a week. It really is good and better for you than artificial sweeteners. The Ezekiel bread is in the frozen food section at the grocery store and they have many different flavors. I bought some sprouted wheat flour and I'm going to try making pasta in my pasta machine to see how it turns out. He can eat regular pasta now, but in moderation, but I still want to see how the sprouted flour works out. I'll report back when I try it. That egg, cheese, and Spam dish looks mighty fine.
