Mustard based BBQ sauce

I have never been a fan of mustard based sauces, because I have never been able to put anything together that enhanced the flavor, and honestly, I have not explored it enough to gain a really favorable opinion.
Well, I by accident found this.
Boom.
The Maple syrup is smoked, and the mustard is whole grain, and tangy. It has a bit of a sweet onion flavor with coarse ground black pepper.
I brought this out to try with my loin back ribs.
I am not a sauce guy by nature, but this, was very, very good.
If anyone has tried this, I am curious to get your opinion on this, if you have tried it.

I have never seen that stuff and not much of a sauce guy myself.

Not sure I would name my sauce "Hak's BBQ Sauce." Perhaps, the "locker room me" coming out and thinking to myself... some hack trying to sell his sauce.

But given your endorsement, I'll give it a try if I find it here in MI.

I am not a sauce guy either. I usually make for the children or guests. I normally like mine naked. This changed my mind on sauce for BBQ and certainly mustard based sauces.

Sauce on BBQ is great. I do both with and without. It's the best condiment out there! Just another flavor enhancer, if you find the right kind. When I order a $60.00 steak at Ruth Chris I always get blue cheese on it as well, when I eat Franklin BBQ, I prefer it with sauce too... Order some gates original sauce online and top a pulled pork sandwich with a little! The only type I don't like is the thick sauce one mainly finds in the grocery store.

That sounds really good.  I haven't heard of this before and don't recall seeing it but I will keep my eye out for it.  The flavor combination sounds interesting.  I have tried a couple of mustard based sauces and I like them.

At $8 a bottle that is a pretty price BBQ sauce though.  It does use real maple syrup which is a bit pricey.  The list of ingredients is pretty simple and I have some good mustard and maple syrup in the fridge.  I might just try to reverse engineer this :)

Which came first the chicken or the egg?  I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

  • Some of my first BBQ after leaving home in CT to attend South Carolina was mustard sauced pulled pork. Yum!  I still order sauce either from Maurice's Piggy Park or his brother Melvin's.

'at was some culture shock, won't it? =)

I had a recipe for Maurice's sauce, but can't seem to find it. Tried a different recipe recently, but did't care for it. Not a huge fan anyway, but thought the stuff from Piggy Park was pretty good, For mustard. ;)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Oh boy, yes. And it felt like someone put a steam towel on my head when I first stepped off the bus in Columbia. Best times of my life. I can even shag now!

@YukonRonhaks website puts an additional 8$ flat shipping rate on top of that. So its 16$ with them. Just bought it on amazon prime for $11.50. I know that's expensive but this thread got the better of me. I love mustard and vinegar based sauces so I had to buy it. Hope its good! Thanks for the tip
