Cleaning convEGGtors / plate setter

I'm a newbie Egg owner (Santa went overboard).  Without ruining any meat yet I'm getting the hang of it; finally learned how to dial in 220 and keep it there.

How should I be cleaning my plate setter?  I know never to use water to clean inside the egg, but what about the plate setter?  I've already fallen behind the cleaning curve:  all I've done to it is scrape the hard gook off with a steel spatula.  That's not getting everything off though.   Suggestions??
