Cleaning convEGGtors / plate setter

I'm a newbie Egg owner (Santa went overboard). Without ruining any meat yet I'm getting the hang of it; finally learned how to dial in 220 and keep it there.
How should I be cleaning my plate setter? I know never to use water to clean inside the egg, but what about the plate setter? I've already fallen behind the cleaning curve: all I've done to it is scrape the hard gook off with a steel spatula. That's not getting everything off though. Suggestions??

Scrape it off with putty knife and go back at er. Line with foil next time or use drip tray to save some mess. You can also fire your egg up to 500 plus to burn anything on there off but not really needed unless its real bad

I don't think I have ever cleaned mine- rarely even scrape offGreensboro, NC

To clean you can fire the egg to 600°ish for an hr or so with the ps in and it will clean it fairly good or you can do a pizza cook. In the future use an elevated drip pan and keep the crud off the PS.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

If all you ever cook is meat and not at 450 temp or higher it will not matter if the plate setter is gunked up like it is now, but if you ever want to bake bread or pizza the gunk will burn off while baking and give your bread/pizza a bad burnt grease taste. I have always for 9 years now kept my plate setter clean. It's your call for sure.

Every time I hear the word conveggtor I cringe. Wow that is a terrible name.
I have never cleaned any of my ceramic, just light a fire and go at it again.

Do a clean burn and wrap in foil moving forward. Don't ever call it a conveggerator...

You wont care as much as the inside of your egg turns black
