It’s officially January and that means just one thing. Our Annual National Meat Month Celebration! Each week you’ll find a new offer on some of our favorite meaty deals, and don’t think we’re not starting the month off right. This week save up to 30% OFF some of my personal favorites! That means it's all about BBQ! Have you ever had a pork collar? How about a brisket? You should! We’re gearing up for a great month and hope you’ll join us in a celebration of all things meat!

Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

    We'll do our best @YukonRon   B)

Interestingly, you'll most of the folks in our industry having sales this month.  It's a bit of  "cleansing" month coming out of the holidays - time to move inventory on specific items to get your quantities where you want them to be heading into the new year.  It's "National Meat Month" so that also provides a good reason.

Our plan is to launch new weekly specials every Monday.  Those products will stay live until we've reached the inventory level we want to be at.  I can't give you specific SKU's, but I can give you themes of what's coming:

Jan 4th (this week):  BBQ theme - briskets, shoulder, collar and tri-tip
Jan 11th - Double R Steaks (tbones, cowboy chop, NY, etc.)
Jan 18th - SRF burgers and steaks (stuff you would cook for big football games)
Jan 25th - Big meats - tenderloins, whole ribeyes, etc.

    Hope that helps!

Great time to try the collar if you haven't tried them. It is hard to beat those.

How much is shipping usually?  I didn't see that on a quick scan of the site.

@SRFShaneThis will be my first SRF purchase. Is it just the regular tri-tip that is on sale and not the Kobe one?  I'm wanting to get one not sure which one to go with.

Thanks for the heads-up. Ordered a brisket and the pork collar. I have been wanting to try these and with the discount it just makes sense to pull the trigger.

@Ozzie_Isaac  - yup, @DMW  is right, standard shipping is $9.99.  Basically means ground shipping, but you can trust it, the dry ice does wonders.

@TrailRunner - yeah, it's the Double R Ranch Tri-tip, which is a Choice product (not the SRF Wagyu version).  It's a really good product, I have no issues recommending it.  I like the SRF tri better, but I typically reserve it for special occassions - the DRR tri is my go-to "weekend dinner with friends" plan.

I just ate the last SRF tri-tip in my freezer.  Time to restock.

We sure appreciate you posting here and keeping us informed. I first tried SRF products last year for Valentines day and intend to do so again. I'll be taking advantage of your specials. Thanks so much.

Give them a ring and see if they'll credit you back some.  I do that quite often with online purchases.  Seems like after many purchases thru the year they go on sale for 20-30% off right after I order.  I swear its a online marketing scheme but I've never had anyone tell me no when I asked for a credit back

They did it for me a year or so ago when I missed a sale by a week.  Gave me a credit.

I bought these locally.  Been picking them up the last couple of weeks, and putting the in the Freezer. Had I known this was coming, I would have held off on the locals. I still might go ahead and order a couple more. I just need to buy another Freezer. My Beautiful Wife will be soooo happy.

Folks, I can't tell you how it's going to translate as to the prices we pay for meat at the market, but I can tell you as a cattle farmer, the prices we are receiving today for 800 lb. angus steers ready for the feedlot are a good 30-40% less than they were earlier in 2015.

Wow. How in the world is that happening? General population cutting back on red meat? heavy on the supply side, or is the import from South America that are driving US prices down? I hate to see this for you Tommy.

Ron, our cattle operation is relatively small and I don't understand the factors influencing this drastic drop in prices.  But I do know prices fell dramatically in the last quarter of 2015. When we sell, we buy back small feeder calves to raise so cheaper large cattle generally mean cheaper replacements, at least that is how we look at it, our accountant however looks at the basis of the cattle we sell.  That won't look so hot for this years purchases.  Not looking for sympathy, but folks should be aware there is potential for much lower retail prices if this drop gets passed on, whether or not that will occur is anyone's guess.

Fuel costs are certainly down, although I've never seen that affect other commodity prices.

My FIL religiously attends weekly sales at our nearest stockyard.  This summer he had a cattle buyer tell him that as fuel prices fell, so would cattle prices.  But couldn't tell him the correlation, just that it would happen.  It used to be that a fall in grain prices would lead to a rise in cattle prices since feedlots could then better afford to fatten cattle.  That isn't currently holding true.  All I know is that current cattle prices are drastically lower, whether or not these reductions will get passed on to consumers is anyone's guess.

Weren't Beef prices extremely high last year or two? Seems natural they'd drop somewhat.

I had a friend many years ago, his uncle had a seat on the Chicago board of the Merchantile Exchange. We would handle his uncle's trades. That guy (his uncle) made tons of cash everyday, and he was a futures guru. We got paid on commission for one summer, paid for my college fun for several years and my first house.
I would never do that again, although the highs of a win were just as sharp as the thuds of a low. One day our commission was $20k, the next day we lost that and more in the pit. Crazy times. Seems like they are back.
