Nothing special here. There's just been waaay too much cooler talk around here lately and not enough cooking talk.
Finally found some ground ancho chili powder the other day (Hispanic grocery store) so I was able to whip up some Mickey's Rub. Spatched at 385F raised direct with a couple of cherry chunks thrown in for good measure.

Your spatch looks excellent.

@DoubleEgger, Did you flip it during the cook? I've always done my spatch birds indirect, no flip. I'm going to try direct the next spatch I do and I'm curious if they need to be flipped.
Your bird look great!

Looking good Mr. Double! I really like the plated pic with the quarter and wings in tact.Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Nice looking bird. Like the idea to just split it and serve half the bird.

No flip @SmokingPiney

It looks like! Chicken darn fine looking chicken at that. I have never tried Mickey's Rub but I guess I need to now. I would wager some serious $$$$$ that it tasted like Chicken too.
