an impromptu trip to the restaurant depot resulted in an afternoon of lobster tails a la egg. Delicious, and only took about 12 minutes to cook.

Looks great, can you give some more insight on how they were cooked. I wanted to get a couple to go with the rib roll but at $22 per pound at SAMs I decided against it.

Each tail was 8oz (5lb box at Restaurant Depot cost about $80). I cut the shell down the middle, broke it apart, pulled the meat up (gently) without detaching it from the tail and curled the shell underneath. Painted each tail with melted butter, then threw them on the egg (shell down) at about 500 degrees, direct heat for ten minutes. Painted each one more time before flipping them over (meat side down) for the last 2 minutes. Pulled them off and stuffed my face.

I have to try that. Just thrown on the grill with no seasoning and just used clarified butter after? What temp did you pull? Looks like a direct cook...what temp did you cook?Joe - I'm a reformed gasser-holic aka 4Runner Columbia, SC Wonderful BGE Resource Site: http://www.nakedwhiz.com/ceramicfaq.htm and http://www.nibblemethis.com/ and http://playingwithfireandsmoke.blogspot.com/2006/02/recipes.html
