I'd clear coat them and let the natural wood stand out.

I painted mine with a color that closely matches the original. Why paint and not stain? Because the paint will allow one to wipe off stains and won't let them sink into the wood.

They're all wrong. They were Blue and White!Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

I'd just put three coats of poly on it and let it ride

After the Blue and White. @DoubleEgger forgot the original colors.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Not being bad here, okay? But I believe the wood used for those are crap wood salvaged from shipping pallet cut offs or whatever in China or earlier from Mexico. They sure are not woods like walnut, maple, cherry or whatever to be re-sealed/re-coated and cherished!

Yeah, I know. Some people restore old Crosleys too, yet I choose not to judge, or alter their path, just stand back, and let the mayhem work it's way out.RRP said:Not being bad here, okay? I believe the pic above was the second generation with the lighter and beveled wood. The ones above had the steel arms that were stamped. This was sometime after 2004, but maybe earlier.
The original ones were a heavier wood, and were a darker color like mahogany. The arms were made out of bar stock and had holes drilled through them. Circa 2000'ish???? -
BINGO!!! That colobrates what I said earlier about my wood slats having a mahogany color and yes my arms are bar stock with drilled holes. Purchase date July, 2001.stlcharcoal said:I believe the pic above was the second generation with the lighter and beveled wood. The ones above had the steel arms that were stamped.
