Does anyone know the original nest mate color?

i just sanded down the wood shelves and would like to duplicate the original color. Does anyone know what color of stain they used?

I'd clear coat them and let the natural wood stand out.
  • I painted mine with a color that closely matches the original.  Why paint and not stain?  Because the paint will allow one to wipe off stains and won't let them sink into the wood.

I'd just put three coats of poly on it and let it ride

Too funny!  Hey Packers are in AZ to play the Cards Dec 27.  Ill probably make a batch of home made bratwurst for that one amd instead of chianti mixed in ill be mixing in something a little hoppier with the meat and spice mixture!

Blue and White if you choose to adhere to the original.  How many times until you understand?

Not being bad here, okay? But I believe the wood used for those are crap wood salvaged from shipping pallet cut offs or whatever in China or earlier from Mexico. They sure are not woods like walnut, maple, cherry or whatever to be re-sealed/re-coated and cherished!

Yeah, I know. Some people restore old Crosleys too, yet I choose not to judge, or alter their path, just stand back, and let the mayhem work it's way out.

I need to chat regarding replacement gaskets for my XL and the MM.

I believe the pic above was the second generation with the lighter and beveled wood.  The ones above had the steel arms that were stamped.  This was sometime after 2004, but maybe earlier.

The original ones were a heavier wood, and were a darker color like mahogany.  The arms were made out of bar stock and had holes drilled through them.  Circa 2000'ish????
