Grill Light for BGE

Tried several pricey ones on my XL that just ended up being irritating. Settled on this one. That light will melt if you do a high heat sear and leave the dome open, so be careful.

@FlyingTivo -Thanks FlyingTivo, I would have walked right into that one. I mainly do low and slows, but did a sear tonight. I happened to catch your post so I took it off and watched the temps and it definitely would have been a goopy plastic mess! Still a darn handy light, but not for searing...

+1 on the headlamp (energizer brand).

Inexpensive, hands free, and you can get back without tripping on the dog who followed you out to the egg.

This is exactly what i bought earlier, but there is just no place to hook it up, but the handle.

That is why i bought the IKEA lamp and works great.

Three Dollar thrift store find my new grill light need to clean the glass but its a 500watt bulb should be bright enough lol

Hi Nola, I am trying to follow your advice and piece together this setup. I am on the dealextreme site and there are massive amounts of torches to choose from. Sticking with your one light recommendation narrows it down but I'm not finding the 220lm. I really want the power to last as long as you stated and unfortunately, reading reviews on other random one light models..running out of power seems to be the knock. Can you help a fellow New Orleanian?

I see this is a pretty old thread, but this is what I use, $60.00, and they are used a lot since it is dark by the time I get home from work. I also use them for the yard when needed and I take them in the boat when camping out on the river to fish all night. (we bring a gen) Only need one light on and it does the job.

WOW! Your egg collection is incredible! You could cook for an army! Thank you for the advice. This light looks like something I might find at my local Home Depot. I was trying to avoid having to drag an extension cord out of the garage and up on the porch but this would totally work.

Amazon has a bunch of these lights...they caught up. Dealextreme is sweet, but shipping can take forever (from China).

This is the one I have and I've only had it on for 1 cook now, but I'm pretty satisfied. It's easy to install and perfectly positioned to light the grilling surface adequately.

I went to Home Depot a few years ago and bought a external housing unit for home flood lights and wired it up with an extension cord and just plug it in when needed. Super easy project for around 25 bucks.
