Rutland gasket Help

I got a gasket from @RRP and followed his instructions. But I have a small gap from 9 to 3 if the hinge is 12. I put a light inside so you can see the gap. Can this be fixed by adjusting the bands? Or did I just screw up somewhere?

    Absolutely. Loosen the top band and let the dome drop down flush. Looking at the pic, you have the dome sitting high up in the band.

    If the dome and the base are the same diameter, it's just a simple matter of adjusting the bands. However my dome is a little smaller than my base so I'm just stuck with some mismatch. I don't let bother me though. Fixing to smoke some boudin on it as we speak.
