The wife relayed a story from the kids' book fair this morning. Apparently the teacher was reading the kids a story about the three little pigs, but told from the Wolf's perspective (he was framed).
Anyway, the teacher asks the kids "Now who knows what kind of meat comes from pigs?"
First answer from the group of kids: "Barbecue!"
We are doing something right here in NC my friends.

I thought it was the Hokey Pokey...

Have to say that "BBQ" is the only answer to that question. Hats off to that child's parents for rearing them correctly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada -
These kids are smart! If they know that BBQ is what you eat and not what you attend, they're going places for sure.
I also like that they said BBQ and not "pulled pork".------------------------------

As a follow-up, I guess after the story was over one of the kids came up to the teacher and told her that he didn't know animals were made from meat. He seemed upset. I hope his parents aren't upset when they find out."I've made a note never to piss you two off." - Stike

I told my friend's 3-yo that hamburgers were made out of cows. He gave me a dirty look, apparently they were protecting her from this fact or something...maybe she had a stuffed cow toy she loved. I was like - what?

When I told my seven year old daughter the pulled pork I was making came from a pig, she said, "So we're eating Wilbur?" She's been reading Charlotte's Web. "It's kinda sad, but he tastes pretty good."Flint, Michigan

Actually, I was more surprised that a parent hadn't protested the retelling of the Three Little Pigs from the Wolf's perspective as revisionist history or the like.JohnInCarolina said:As a follow-up, I guess after the story was over one of the kids came up to the teacher and told her that he didn't know animals were made from meat. I guess if that had taken place in a less enlightened part of NC as Durham then someone might have protested. Perhaps if Glenn Beck hears of this he'll get the torches lit.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
@fred19flinstoneThat's a perfect response. Kids can really get to the heart of things, huh?!Chicago, IL - Large and Small BGE - Weber Gasser and Kettle

I look at cow and I see meat. A vegetarian looks at meat and sees a cow.
