I am a rookie around here. Bought my egg in May and the same rig you did shortly thereafter. I have posted a few cooks if you want to click on my name and check out some of my cooks.Bloomfield Hills, MI | LGBE : AR R & B Oval Combo w/Extender and Sliding D Grid : Kick Ash Basket : Smokeware Cap : Smobot Beta

Open the flood gate brother, many here have the awesome set up you purchased and cook amazing food on it, pretty sure you'll be glad you got it.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Aha, so there are no pictures ... hmmm ... could that be because no one has figured out how to assemble it correctly?
@jwok328 ... you should take a look at the sliding d-grill to top off the extension. It has guides on the side that force it to only move fore-n-aft on the top ... no chance to slip off the side. By sliding it backwards, you have easier access to the second level of cooking. Here's a good video of it in operation:

Notice at the 4:00 minute mark how closing the lid slides the d-grill forward. The other thing to notice is that the front cross bar on the extension can be left off (better access to the second level) with the d-grill.

@Jeepster47, exactly what I meant by open the flood gate. Very well done brother!!Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

I just used my new one for the first time last week. Did a 14 lb brisket on the bottom and two 7 lb butts on top. Tight fit but worked great except for my makeshift foil drip pan. I need to make a metal ring for the foil drip pan. They sell one on their site but I already have the material to make something similar.Aledo, Texas

I bought this rig for my large and love it. Really adds to the space and versatility of the large. I also like that the oval stone protects an entire rack of baby back ribs or a nice brisket. The extender is key to getting a second level cook over a chubby spatchcock chicken. Wasn't cheap but worth it in my opinion.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

I bought the same R and B combo yesterday. I added the sliding D rack for the extender and a 16" pizza stone. Wasn't cheap! Hope it lives up to all the hype. Still can't believe how much it cost. Even if it is well made!
I'm most looking forward to trying pizzas on the extender... -
I bought the oval combo with oval stone ect. Can I just order a top D sliding grid and use the oval bottom for flexible cooking

Yep. That's what I did. Sliding D on extender and 13x17 oval grate for inside AR. LBGE grate for top of AR (or fire ring) when not using extender.

It's crazy and overwhelming the options they have. Really complicates the beautiful simplicity of the BGE.Jeepster47 saidThe Kamasutra of stainless? -
When you make your metal ring, think about adding a couple of cross pieces to support the aluminum foil in the middle. The cross pieces should also allow for support of the ring assembly off of the stone without having the spacers right on the edge of the stone.Toxarch said:... I either use kiln posts along the edge and in the middle, or a couple of the CGS cross pieces as spacers.
Oh yes, show us pictures of what you come up with and tell us how it works.

Here's mine before putting the ribs on (CGS oval stone on bottom wrapped in foil) and then with the ribs on. Worked great. Had the sliding oval grid so was easy to slide the lower rack out for spraying.

It really is, but play around with it before you get it dirty and take pics of what you did. It really works great once you get it set up right. Took me a while the first time.Jeepster47 said:

@Hofstrajet ... Oh it's too late for playing around ... everything is well and truly dirty. It's really a great piece of equipment. I have no problems with it. For normal cooking for the two of us, the PSWoo2 is by far my favorite set up. I'm fortunate to have two large eggs and two different set ups (PSWoo & AR) ... it's easy to grab the correct tool for the task at hand.HofstraJet said:

You mention cooking with the d-grid, but show the oval grid in your picture. Are you talking about the slide grid ... pictured here:
Or, the d-grid, that fits on top of the AR:

I started off with the Large Adjustable Rig R & B Oval Combo with the Foil Ring.
I have since added the Rig Extender with D Grid and I'm now eyeing a 2nd 13x17 Oval Grid so I can slide on multiple levels right now I'm just using the D Grid or stock 18" Egg Grid as my second level.
Here is a picture of the rig using the oval stone, foil ring, oval grid with slide guide and the egg grid ontop of the rig extender:

is that just the oval grid sitting ontop of the extender?HofstraJet said:Here's mine before putting the ribs on (CGS oval stone on bottom wrapped in foil) and then with the ribs on. Worked great. Had the sliding oval grid so was easy to slide the lower rack out for spraying.

I have the same setup with an extra sliding grid and oval grate and using the sliding D grid on the extender.
