2 Turkeys

One was brined with the Pioneer Woman's recipe, except I used Sam Adams in lieu of the Apple Cider. At the store, I thought the recipe said apple cider vinegar -- which I had.  Got home and realized otherwise.  The beer worked great though.

This is was my first time brining a turkey, and it was crazy good.  My wife roasted it inside while I smoked another one outside.

For the smoked turkey, I used @Nuke1855 's Caribeque Jamaican Jerk.  This one was not brined, but I did inject it with a mixture of melted butter and jerk seasoning.

Here are are the results.  The smoked turkey is on the left and the brined oven roasted turkey on the right.  The jerk turkey had killer flavor, especially the buttery jerk injection.  The brined oven roasted turkey also had killer flavor -- just a different style altogether.  I have to say that I'm now a firm believer in using a brine.  My wife took the IT of the brined one to a higher temp than I took the smoked turkey, and hers was still more juicy.

Both were crazy good.  About to pack all of it up for sammich purposes.  :)  Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
