Yep, bought them both at the same time.  Love how there is little ash in the Egg, just a shake in the can.  However, I am going to back to screening the left over ash/lump.  there are some respectable sized pieces in there...

I have one for my medium because my fire grate kept getting knocked around when I was stirring the leftover lump. I do agree it's totally unnecessary on an XL though.

Cleaned my XL this morning......Wish I had an XL basket. Will I buy an XL basket? Probably not. After purchasing that small shop vac at Home Depot a few weeks ago I find that most of the lump the falls through the XL fire grate clogs the small vacuum hose. I think the basket would fix this issue.

I had no issue using the clean out tool with the Large and XL. The small fricken sucks. The vacuum is nice especially with the KAB.

  • It takes me all of two minutes to clean out my large or my MM with the ash tool.   One ash tool, two Eggs.  Game over, man.  Game.  Over.

I'm happy for you. BTW I paid for both baskets using my credit card - not yours - so why is it any concern of yours?

I say no need on the XL. Big + for the small. Have used mine twice this week, a big improvement over the hi Q grate in the small

@rrp. You just need to listen to JIC. He's the smartest man in the room again. He tested the KAB and knows just how stupid and worthless the device is. Why would you even consider arguing the opposite point of view based upon your actual usage? Oh wait, JIC is wrong about most things. Carry on Ron. He thinks the KAB is only about shaking ashes. In fact, I rarely even touch my basket, but if you need to for whatever reason, including to cool the egg off when tailgating, it is an option. The other benefits such as increased air flow and elimination of side air hole clogging is the real genius. Intended or not the benefits are great. As with all accessories, not a necessity, but this one has great benefits.

JIC why do you use an egg at all?  A weber will cook too.

Heck, an open fire also works.

The point folks are making is the KAB helps them in their situation.  Is it necessary? No.  Does it help them?  Yes.

You defintely have a strong luddite streak.

Nice trick to edit your own post to a completely different topic. Class, class, class. Still waiting for your intelligent first hand critiques.
I don't have man grates, but i could care less if someone wanted them or has them and likes them. They took crap here because they where obviously peddling their product. Just a hater.

@DMW Ted Kazynski was a proffessor too.

JIC, I am curious though, why no love for any modifications?
