Adjustable Rig Question

Im considering an adjustable rig purchase. Can I expect to get more smoke penetration in the things I cook or is it really just a tool to get extra racks?

also, can someone link to a good AR?

Smoke penetration has to do with temperature and humidity, not grill height. The difference in temperature by raising the grid will be minimal. Maybe 10-25 degrees.
Smoke flavor is impacted by cool/wet conditions. Cold meat vs hot cooking chamber or basting your food will provide more smoke flavor/penetration than raising the grid height.
To answer your question direcly, folks buy the AR and other products to allow for more cooking surface.

The AR or any tool inside the BGE is just that. Now if you are looking for vertical cooking area you are in the right place. However, smoke penetration is a function of many things:

That's really interesting... I love having obscure terms like "myoglobin" and "NO absorption" to throw around smugly during a cook.lousubcap said:
Thanks for posting.
Also, to @ericwelsch 's question, to my knowledge there is only the Adjustable Rig, versus an adjustable rig. Click here.LBGE | CyberQ | Adjustable Rig | SmokeWare Cap | Kick Ash Basket | Table Build | Tampa, FL -
Some will pipe in with using nuts and bolts for extra grilling space. You can also buy this http://smokeware.com/collections/featured/products/grate-stacker
I personally have the AR/WOO combo for my XL and use it with almost every cook. -
The AR provides more grilling space and allows you to cook high in the dome. I have bought two one for a large and XL.

I got my AR from the Ceramic Grill Store.

@Tspud1 - I have one of those and they are a flimsy piece of junk that only gets used when I absolutely need to. I have the Woo2 for a raised direct and have never used an Adjustable Rig. If the AR is constructed as well as the Woo there in no comparison between the rack you just linked and something bout from Tom @ CGSTspud1 said:Big Green egg sells them http://www.biggreenegg.com/eggcessories/cooking-grids-racks-extenders-pans/-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini.
