Smoked Chicken Wings; Lazy Sunday Cook... (w/ PICS)

Ever wake up with the urge to grill and nothing in the fridge?
Instead of running to the store I nosed around the freezer and found some chicken wings. Decided to try smoking them using the same method we use for low & slow pork and brisket. Came out pretty well!

I tossed the wings in a quick sauce of olive oil, apple cider vinegar, spicy mustard and a very spicy homemade habanero hot sauce. Gave that a couple shakes and then added in some Happy Holla rub, green chili powder, garlic powder, and let it sit while I got the grill ready...

I cooked them between 250 and 300, dome temp, indirect, for 90 minutes. Flipped them halfway (shown below)

The picture at the top of this thread is bare wings, right off the grill. After I took that picture, and ate one (it was great) I decided to sauce the rest of them. I used some spicy Adobe Millings BBQ sauce, which I heated up with a little butter and tossed with the wings.
The wings were awesome. Very smoky and very spicy. On the edge of tolerable, actually. You'd get a little of the sweetness from the BBQ sauce and then the spice would kick you in the nuts and put you back in your place. It was a solid wing.

Why so few? It's all I had, but was just enough for me. These babies were too spicy for the rest of the family.
Only change I'd make next time would be to maybe scale back on that habanero sauce (I was surprised how much heat they retained after the 90 minute cook) and use a milder wood instead of hickory. I threw some of that in with the lump but it was a little strong for chicken.
All in all, a nice thing to have going on the grill while I did a little yard work and played with the kids.

It really was a tease because the BBQ sauce gave it just a hint of carmelized sweetness that'd make you go "smokey, sweet, this is ni..... WOH! Who just snuck up behind me and did that?!?!"
