I want to make Shredded beef tacos...help!

I am thinking Mexican style shredded barbacoa style. First, what cut of beef would I use? I am thinking chuck roast.
I will use the linked method below, but alter my ingredients to be more Spanish like. What types of flavors should I be adding besides cumin and chile powder?
