Fire Starters

anyone use the safe lite squares? They say they are sawdust and wax and have good reviews on Amazon, but I am leery since they don't say specifically they are ok for BGEs. I got a package of BGE ones from my dealer and found them way easier to start than just paper or whatever so I'd like to get more but the BGE specific ones are way overpriced.
Thanks
Thanks

They are fine, but for about ten bucks you can get a heat gun and light it that way.

Not sure what that is. Can you provide a link or describe?

Home Depot sell the Weber wax starters, cheap AND they work great.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

cheap fire logs, parrafin andsawdust, can usually be had for a couple bucks. they are the same thing, but will last much longer than the more expensive stuff sold as "starters"
leave them out on a warm day and bust up with a screwdriver. will last a couple years.
i use paper napkin and a SMALL amount of oil (not dripping). but you can use the heat guns, MAAP torches, weedburners, whatever works

I really like using my MAAP torch, or paper towels soaked with leftover bacon grease. Haven't used the BGE starter squares for quite awhile.Egging year 'round in North Dakota

I use the Rutland starters via Amazon
Seem to perform exactly like the BGE ones for a helluva lot less money.
Not a looflighter fan due to no practical electric outlet near my Egg.

I use Frontier Tumbleweeds - wax and wood shavings. They work fine.Living the good life smoking and joking

I still like the chimney...gives you a good amount of good burning coal IMHO once dumped in the EGG it is a much "Cleaner Quicker" burn than anything else..I got some starters with a Mini I bought, used them a few times in the mini........I still like the chimneyVisalia, Ca @lkapigian
