Cedar plank beans?

Salmon? I just love planked beans. Ha ha. Found some FC sockeye at Kroger today. Had to put off the beef rib cook.

It's salmon. Some wild caught sockeye.cook861 said:Chicken?

You can make some killer salmon patties out of that.

Interesting idea. I'm just using the beans the soak the plank. Prolly a little raging river and a simple plank cook. Might fix up some prosciutto wrapped asperagus. I'm just getting myself a bit lit before I light the egg. Still early.SGH said:You can make some killer salmon patties out of that. -
Well, lunch is leftover Egged pizza - deep dish & thin crust. You've got me thinking about dinner tho. Looking forward to your finished photos.

Nice pie @LetsEat. IMO planked salmon is the best way to prepare it. I'm partial to the cedar planks. I've tried alder which many purist prefer, but not me. The cedar pairs with the salmon beautifully. I'll be back.

When I was young and dumb I used to use Cedar fencing. Now I'm to paranoid about chemicals.
I also have recently experimented with charring the plank first, then laying salmon skin side down on the charred plank. That added some interesting layers to the flavor..I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I'll be planking some salmon tomorrow.......one of my favorite cooks.Living the good life smoking and joking

It's hard to beat that magic combination of salmon and cedar.pgprescott said:Nice pie @LetsEat. IMO planked salmon is the best way to prepare it. I'm partial to the cedar planks. I've tried alder which many purist prefer, but not me. The cedar pairs with the salmon beautifully. I'll be back.

Thanks. Pizza is Friday pm staple. Before kids there were always adult friends who joined us. Since kids, its groups of teens! Im lazy in the winter and bake in the oven -- 36" Gaggenau outfitted with integrated element/stone. One of these weeks I'll post pictures of my pizza cooks but really after awhile don't you think they all look alike?
I grilled my first salmon in 1975 but I have never planked it. I have this mental image of my dad's workshop -- cutting cedar shingles and thinking the salmon will taste how the workshop smelled
Guess I'm a little late to the party. Looks as if I need to add cedar planks to my shopping list for this week and give it a try. I'm looking forward to your finished post. IL -
@LetsEat - you won't regret it. Cedar planked salmon rocks.Living the good life smoking and joking

Oooo. Gaggenau! Most don't know what that is, however, my old man sold high end appliances for years. Nice! Try the cedar planks, you won't regret it.LetsEat said:Thanks. Pizza is Friday pm staple. I'm taking your recommendation. On the menu for Wednesday pm -- Fishmonger gets deliveries on Wednesday.IL

I've warned people about using cedar that is not food grade. Not worth the gamble to save a few bucks. Glad you survived. I saw someone else charring the plank ahead of the cook. I always take the skin off prior to the cook. My thoughts are it will allow more cedar to inpregnate the fish. I'm getting anxious.Ozzie_Isaac said:When I was young and dumb I used to use Cedar fencing. Now I'm to paranoid about chemicals.

Getting the egg stabilized and up to temp. Here's the salmon and asperagus.

Plated. Salmon wasn't the best I've had. It wasn't as good as it looked in the store. Definitely serviceable though.

I think it looks like it would taste great.-----------------------------------------analyze adapt overcome2008 -Large BGE. 2013- Small BGE and 2015 - Mini. Henderson, Ky.

Thanks @Mattman3969. It was fine, I just am being pretty picky. The asparagus and rice pilaf were spot on. We really like the prociutto wrapped asparagus.
-
It's a done deal -- my first cp salmon in Wed night. Might as well hack your post and throw in the asparagus and rice pilaf too
. To say I LOVE my Gaggenau hob and oven would be an understatement. IL -
That looks so delicious to me!

That looks killer. Makes me want salmon.

Looks really good. Not really into asparagus but would give it a try.
