Bug a salt

ok so this made the round a few months ago. I'm coming to the states for a burn and turn, and I can add this to my US shipping address.

Was this just a cute thing you used a couple times and now sits in the corner? Was it messy with salt everywhere when shot? Would you buy it again.

I've had my Bug-a-salt for a few weeks now, and it is one of my favorite purchases in a long time.  I took it to the pool yesterday and had at least 20 confirmed kills.
There are a ton of flys in Arkansas, and I absolutely love taking them out.    I use it indoors and have yet to find salt anywhere.  It basically shoots a pinch at a time...just don't over do it indoors.
If my gun broke, I wouldn't bat an eye on buying another.  I'm about to get two more for my kids because they keep fighting over mine.

I have the bug a salt 1 thaTs not as powerful but it's still fun. Wouldn't use it inside mine stays in the garage. It was worth the money and have had mine for a couple years and it still works fine.

I want to snipe some carpenter bees. Will one of these take them down?

I live just over an hour to the border and have a parcel service address there. If I'm not going to the US for a trip or a weekend, I ship it to the border and take a couple hours there and back on a " burn and turn"

I love my bug-a-salt. Wish it had more power.  Wouldn't ya know it?  They have a 2.0 version.  I would buy that, vs. the old one.

  • I've got to get one! That video doesn't impress me as being powerful enough to snipe carpenter bees though. Those bees are pretty tough.

It probably isn't.  I only have version 1.0, but even that doesn't always kill the fly so much as knock him around.  Sometimes a subsequent foot stomp is required.

I keep mine inside.  Who cares about a little salt on the floor?   You guys know that ants don't come after table salt, right?

I normally smack the flying footballs (carpenter bees) with an electronic flyswatter racket.  Pretty fun.  And ya, i don't know that even the 2.0 would do more than tickle them.

I killed a carpenter bee with my 2.0, took two shots and the thing started on a flat spin then crashed and burned about 20 ft away. I walked out into the yard to check and was able to confirm the kill. I have shot many a carpenter bee with it but that was the only kill. It usually just makes them fly away.

the Bug A Salt 2.0 is one of my favorite toys.  I don't shoot carpenter bees as they don't sting and they do a lot of good.  I tend to stay away from any type of bee with this thing but I hate flies and the occasional mosquito.  I think there are ten mosquitos in the entire phoenix area and as soon as the temperature hits 110, they turn into little puffs of smoke in the air!  but, shooting flies with the Bug A Salt has been such a fun thing to do as you can get the weapon right next to a fly and it never sees the salt shot coming, and they get wiped out.  Love this thing.

What good? All they do is bore holes in my cedar sunroom.  I see a carpenter bee, I kill a carpenter bee.

they pollinate my citrus trees so that I have orange, lemon and grapefruit juice to marinate carne asada, chicken and fish which I in turn cook on my Big Green Egg....

A buddy has the original one sold on kickstarter or wherever. It's fun to use but the range was not impressive. Had to get really close to actually kill the fly and by the time you are done sitting in one spot, there's salt all over the table and floor. Nice to see they have a new more powerful version.

Love my 2.0 gun....so much fun.  Salt does tend to get everywhere (on my glass table it shows up the day after).  But it's worth a wipe down.   It took out a wasp at close range last weekend.

I have the 1.0 which kills flies, daddy long legs, you name it.  Sometimes takes more than one shot, but when you're running the egg, sipping a cocktail and maybe smokin' a nice cigar, who cars if it takes another shot?
