Ceramic Grill Works (Pittsburgh, PA)

I assume this is a long shot but does anyone have experience with this store?

their "hours" today were until 7PM.  It's about .7 miles from where I work. I rolled up right after I got out of work around 6:25 and it was closed.
I could they shut down recently as the neon sign was still burning hot to touch.

This is my second issue with them. Unfortunately my other dealer is 20+ miles away. Was curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

The reviews here run to the extremes. No personal experience, but use the search function on the site and you'll see what I mean.

Yes, lots of polarizing sentiments on Franco and his operation. Some have had good experiences, and some have had bad ones.

No comment on their hours but In all fairness I invested in their two tier swing rack around four years ago.   The product works well.  Over time there were some issues with keeping the shaft (and away we go!) clean enough to work with tightly machined parts within the system.  Was able to work thru but I am tired of having to use 0 grit sand paper to adjust the height.
Give them a call before your next road-trip.  FWIW-
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood.  Life is too short for light/lite beer!  Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Yeah, I hear great things about them. Top notch customer service from what I've read.

  • Give him a call--he may have had to leave the store unexpectedly.  He does seek to meet his customer's needs.

fair question, but the closet vermin come out to bash everyone on these types of threads.  And at night, the ice weasels come.  (that was a fake Friedrich Nietzsche quote).

I was hoping for benefit of the doubt here as well but he had a few signs posted in his window about modified hours coming up so I figured he would have put something up as well.

I'll try and give him a third chance

I absolutely think it's a fair question. I also think its inevitable and natural that we will have folks sharing their experiences with BGE-related products and their vendors. I don't support otherwise inactive forum members coming out of the closet just to bash people. But if they are regular contributors, posting cooks, etc., I don't see anything wrong with sharing their experiences (good or bad) on this forum. I wouldn't want to discourage people from sharing their relevant experiences, especially if it stands to help others make prudent and well-informed decisions. Just don't think we need to be so careful about what we say, and who we offend sometimes - as long as what we say is a factual and well-balanced account of whatever transpired. If I had a bad experience with a BGE-related vendor, I'd like to think I can share it on this forum, IF it means that others on here will avoid a similar experience. I'm sure this view won't be overly popular, but that's just my sentiment FWIW.

I purchased a swing rack for my XL several years ago.  I truly loved the thing and used it all of the time until the bottom grate warped.  It warped so badly it could no longer be used.  I emailed Franco several times and was told he was working on redesigning the bottom grate for the XL to address the warping issues and that he would be in touch with me once he had everything ironed out as he was not going to replace or sell any more XL swing grates until the warping issue was resolved.  I wasn't looking for a freebie but based on what he was telling me, I understood that my problem would "be taken care of".

I would email him from time to time to check in on the status.  I was usually told "we're still working on it" and once it is back up on the site, he was going to contact me.

Got on the site awhile back and noticed they are now selling the XL swing rack again.  I assume the issues have been resolved.  I tried emailing Franco.  No response.

I have given up on my swing rack and Ceramic Grill Works.  I have since purchased an AR from Ceramic Grill Store and am very happy with my purchase.
