good ole reverse sear! What's that funny metal box you did the first part in?! It looks to be indoors and missing it's ceramicXL, Small, Mini & Mini Max Green Egg, Shirley Fab Trailer, 6 gal and 2.5 gal Cajun Fryers, BlueStar 60" Range, 48" Lonestar Grillz Santa Maria, Alto Shaam 1200s, Gozney Dome, Gateway 55g Drum

Do you get any woodsmoke flavoring to that?Johns Creek, GA - LBGE and a some stuff

Wonder if that is one of those Acron derivatives.
Washington, IL > Queen Creek, AZ ... Two large eggs and an adopted Mini Max

In all seriousness, what did you put in the pan for the sear? I've been experimenting with different oils or butter to see what I get the best sear from. It's funny, at first I thought to myself, "That's some serious photography to get that shot in the oven", but the pic looks to be sideways. It looked like you mounted the camera inside the oven, but when turned sideways, you can see the door is open. The way you placed the steak in there really gave it a deceiving look. Nice job whether it was on purpose or accident.

I pulled a hunk of fat off the steak and threw it in the skillet. It rendered down and worked beautifully!Thatgrimguy said:In all seriousness, what did you put in the pan for the sear? I tried to get a pic that showed how thick the steak was. I cooked it standing on the bone. A friend suggested that to me and I've become a fan. I think it helps cook more evenly and definitely helps dry out the outside of the meat. That dryness helps a LOT with the sear.r8rs4lf said:It's funny, at first I thought to myself, "That's some serious photography to get that shot in the oven", but the pic looks to be sideways. I'm still not entirely sure what that "oven" thing is that you guys keep mentioning.... But it looks like it puts out some fantastic food!

It's that thing in the kitchen that you see your wife warming pots and pans in. I call them a pot and pan dryerChillyWillis said:I'm still not entirely sure what that "oven" thing is that you guys keep mentioning.... But it looks like it puts out some fantastic food!

For all the overly sensitive people out there, I'm referring to the oven as the dryer, not the wife.SGH said:

I started to word it where it would start a fire storm. But I'm busy today and don't have time to really keep it going so i toned it down. However, tomorrow is a new day my friendlousubcap said:Dang-here I thought we were about to head down an EPIC rabbit hole.
