Sunday Recovery...

After indulging on some awesome Italian food last night with the whole family... Took the MIL out to Maggiano's for her birthday. Time to get back on track with more normal food, I don't eat pasta very often and last night should hold me for at least a few months...

Picked up a nice big sirloin this morning... going to do it caveman and then slice it thin to go over a fresh salad.

Weather is great so it's a deck day with a good stick and the Tigers on the radio.

Enjoy your Sunday! Pics to follow later on...

Life must be pretty rough @Mickey?

Were you directly affected by any flooding from all the rains?

Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.

  • I just lit the egg for a meatloaf when disaster struck.  My 7 year old darted out in front of a car on a bike and got hit.  She doesn't look badly injured, but we're at the ER to make sure.  No meatloaf for us.

@hapster I don't know you and have learned a lot from you on this forum. With total respect I have to ask.."awesome Italian food" at Maggaino's? Really. I'd say it's "better than average" but my 100% Italian wife and her family would say "ehh". Tonight she is making her grandma's oven fried pork chops. The salad will have my homemade vinegar on it of course. This is a rare treat for us. We don't do real Italian very often.

  • Thanks guys.  She's just bumped and scuffed a bit.  She's parlaying that into a supper at her favorite restaurant.  Smart kid.

Glad to here she's okay Bob - @Fred19Flintstone. In that case, I'd make her come home and eat meatloaf. Can't imagine that wouldn't be better than restaurant food.

  • Meatloaf is postponed until tomorrow.  She wants the burger-fries-shake combo at the local diner.  The shakes are homemade using ice cream from a local dairy.  They're tight.  The burgers are good, not great.

    Doesn't matter what you're eating. She's okay!!

And burgers/fries/shake was my favorite meal at that age! Ain't bad 60 years later! :)

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Fred - I'm truly relieved your little girl is ok.

I'll bet this helps keep her safe on her bike and around traffic moving forward.  A good scare is sometimes not a bad thing.

Now, about that meatloaf - Are you DEVASTATED?

Awesome in that I didn't have to cook it... I make really good Italian food, learned from my Jewish mother LOL. That said, the food was decent and there was plenty of it for the price; but mostly we all had a great time.

Here is the eventual dinner we had last night... A cavemaned sirloin salad. The SIL stopped over around 1pm for a beer, left around 8pm LOL. Had a great time talking and bullshitting but dinner was delayed and there were very few pics.

As much as we all enjoy the food pics I'm sure it was worth it to have the afternoon to just hang out. If I miss you the rest of this week Hap hope you and yours have a great Fourth!!
