Hello all! I am a new member here and new to the BGE. To start, I was turned on to the EGG by a relative who used his Egg to make some pretty mean pulled pork at a few family functions. I was so jealous of all the good food he was eating it drove me into to start looking into a BGE for myself. I've had my EGG for just about two weeks now and I'm loving it!
I purchased the LBGE, a nest, a platesetter, a Maverick 733, high heat gloves and a set of mates since I don't really have any sort of table set up. Technically, I caught a deal where I got the nest and platesetter thrown in for free so I didn't have to splurge for those. I've cooked a few things so far including some ribs, a pork shoulder (in a blinding rainstorm), and some boneless chicken breast that left a lot to be desired. Anyway, I've already been lurking and benefiting from all of the knowledge on the site so I figured I'd post and introduce myself. I've also attempted to include a few pics from my first couple of smokes below. Oh yeah, I'm also a huge Notre Dame Fighting Irish football fan, so... GO IRISH! Beat U$C!

Great start right there! Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint.

Everything besides being a ND fan works for me.
Welcome to the insanity. What seemed to be the problem with your chicken breasts? My wife won't touch chicken that doesn't come of the egg anymore. I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season. -
Sounded good till the last sentence... A forgiving bunch, won't hold it against you for long.

Welcome to the forum and to the lifestyle!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

Ha ha! The flavor was definitely there, but I think I just overcooked em'. They were marinated in a jerk marinade and I checked the temp on the biggest breast, but the others were just a little dry and tough since they cooked a little faster. Prior to cooking them, I had read about cooking them on a raised grate? I didn't have one, so I rolled the dice and lost.Scottborasjr said:Everything besides being a ND fan works for me.

Welcome. If you are planning on getting accessories make a Thermapen your first. It really helps. Next is Alcohol for the cook, it really helps also. Enjoy!Belleville, Michigan
