What would it take to blow an Egg over?

Never thought about this before...but have been under a Tornado watch for a while now, raining super hard and the wind is screaming. 60mph+ I should mention my egg is in a nest. Just curious...Has anyone had this happen?

It would take a lot to get it to tip over with just wind. The problem would be getting it rolling quickly then hitting something causing it to tip. It it wont roll you should be fine.
-
If the wind's blowing hard enough to blow your nested Egg over, you won't notice. You'll have other much more-pressing concerns.
As Steven said, you're fine.

A very big wolf. And he huffed and he puffed and he blew the egg down. And the three little pork butts...Mt Elgin Ontario - just a Large.

If a wind was strong enough to blow a dog past the egg and the dog's leash were to get tangled...THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

It would be devastating.Legume said:If a wind was strong enough to blow a dog past the egg and the dog's leash were to get tangled... -
An EF4 tornado will do it.

lol...I live in a Rancher...so not too much risk in a tornado....However a crazy gust could do me in

I've read threads here of storms knocking over eggs, but it usually involves the wind knocking over something and that in turn knocking over the egg. Maybe an urban legend that I'm perpetuating, but its easy to cover and secure prior to a storm.Pittsburgh, PA - 1 LBGE

The cover could start to get blown off the Egg and get caught on the handle or hinge. It would then act like a sail and I would think easily take an egg over in strong enough winds.

You sure did. Hey, you went the extra mile too and put the egg in the pic. That's a little beyond my computer skills. But I like it brother.UncleFred said:

If it does knock it over file a home owners insurance claim for damages. I actually listed my egg as a separate item on my homeowners policy, just like my wife's engagement ring and a couple other inherited items.1 large BGE, Spartanburg SC

I'd be more worried about crap blowing around and hitting the egg.

I filmed an EF1 tornado in my backyard earlier this year. My stockade fence already had 3 posts broken off at the ground and its "patched" with 2X4s screwed to the panels holding it up. Actually it's my neighbors but they don't seem interested in fixing a dang thing. But the fence was flat rocking, said neighbors metal storage building, launched and landed in my yard, tree branches are breaking off and a small Weber kettle on my patio never even twitched. I have it on film but I have not a clue how to post it here.

It'll be okay. Just don't transport it in a semi and keep it from rolling as @steventconners20 mentioned. The sudden stop is an egg buster.

Gusts and micro bursts can do it. Doesn't necessarily take a tornado to do it. The possibility does exist.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL
