Any suggestions for grilling salmon?

i bought some Salmon tonight to cook for dinner tomorrow night. Any suggestions on how to cook? Direct heat vs indirect...rubs...temp to cook at...straight on the grill vs basket of some type.

I keep salmon really simple. Cut into serving-sized slices to make it easier to turn on the grill. Brush both sides with olive oil. Dizzy Pig Raging River on the meat side. Grill over medium heat meat side down for about 5 minutes. Flip to skin side down until done (when the white gunk starts to come oozing out). Serve with chimichurri sauce.

Lots of great ways to cook salmon.  My go to is a rub that is sweeter than salty and grill it raised direct at 400, skin up for just a few minutes, then flip, hit with a little more rub and grill until it starts to firm up.  You can use a spatula to take the fish right off the skin at this point.

You can glaze the top too when you flip it, I like honey with lemon juice, honey with balsamic, honey with rub, etc.

+1 with the method from both @Legume and @clintmiller. Save your money, no plank needed. If my salmon is cut into individual portions, I use the spatula trick.

I just did a 28oz  planked salmon filet from Costco. I used a recipe that used a marinade that consisted of 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 1/2 cup of lemon juice, 1/2 cup of soy sauce and 1/2 cup of cooking oil. Mix those together until brown sugar is liquified, put in a zip lock bag, add the salmon and let sit for 3-6 hours. Turn every hour or so just to make surearinade is spread evenly.
Dial  in your egg for direct at 350F.
pullthe salmon from the bag, let sit for 30 minutes to get closer to ambient temperature. Then pat dry.
place on plank. Melt 2 tables spoons of butter in 2 Tablespoons of maple syrup.
brush maple syrup and butter over top of salmon, save remainder. Before placing on grill add your favorite BBQ rub, liberally.
Place planked salmon on grill at 350F for 15 to 20 mins. Cook until around 135-140 internal temp on thick prices, remove, brush on remaining maple syrup and butter, let stand ten minutes and then serve. Cut your piece first. If you do not, you will not have any.
i smoked with maple. Uneffenreal. Best anyone has ever had at that table tonight. One is the head chef at a very well perceived joint here in Louisville.
    He was blown away.
I got this recipe in this forum. It is the best I have ever had in my life anywhere on earth period.
