Broken Pizza Stone

A while back I asked for recommendations on Pizza Stone or Steel after my Pampered Chef did not hold up to the heat.

I went with the BGE stone as the replacement.  Thanks for all the feedback.

While getting ready to toss the old one, I had a thought.  Let me know crazy or not:

The pizza stone broke with a reasonably clean break and I was thinking of using some high heat JB Weld or other product to cement it back together and use it for indirect cooks at lower temps on my AR?

What do you think?

@Woody-I don't know about gluing it back together, but you could use the halves to create 2 different heat zones when doing small cooks. You could have half of your egg direct while the other half was indirect. Sometimes this is a very useful setup.  Maybe others that have tried it can answer the question about gluing it.

I have the same situation, still going to use the 2 halves together for indirect, and also will try what @SGH says

I'm not a fan of using some kind of chemicals not rated safe for food that's going to be in direct contact with my food.

JB Weld will work but only good for low temp cooks.  Plus if it's a cheap pizza stone it might not be worth the time and money for JB Weld if you don't have it on hand already.

Please skip the J B Weld bit - that will NOT do the trick - BUT as you have already decided - just keep them for precise indirect cooks. If you find the broken edges to be too sharp you can always knock them down with a coarse metal file or even rubbing those edges with a brick or even on your sidewalk! Just be sure to wash off the dust/grit produced.

I used JB weld on my broken platesetter ... works like a charm. It is only heat rated for 500 degrees. So if you choose to go this route, remember this posting.

Unless a chemical is rated to NOT outgas (boil or sublimate) at 800f, It AIN'T going in my egg.
No way would I EVER try to recover a broken pizza stone.
Other idea presented, like creating 2 heat zones are EXACTLY the right approach.
Silicon Carbide is probably tough enough to use to break the sharp edge of any breaks.

I glued the broken pizza stone back together with the JB weld good to 500G and have used it for low temperature indirect cooks and it seems to work fine.  Not using it direct contact with food or high temp.  I purchased a BGE Pizza stone  for the high temps.
Thank you for all the input.
