Guess what! I finally got my egg and my hubby was able to wrestle the bend band back into shape and got it all put together. I'm almost tempted to build a structure around it to keep it safe. LOL Can't wait to start grilling on it again. The only sucky part is having to season it all over again. But I can live with that.

Congrats. All things considered a structure or table is not a bad idea at all. Use a table nest and air gap on sides (safety first)
Also consider a SS table for longevity if that's an interest. @Tspud1 might be able to help you if you decide to go in that direction.

Congrats on finally closing the deal. Now about this " season issue comment?" I gtuess the now preached cook below 350*F qualifies but beyond that go for it!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! @DoubleEgger I love ya my brotha from a different... But, a dog tie out? Makes me cringe when I see them. All I think of is backwoods neck or ghetto. Not a fan of tie outs.

@NPHuskerFL I love dogs probably more than the next guy. I feel that these are safer for dogs because they can't get the lead wrapped around something and choke or otherwise hurt themselves. I used one with my bird dog (RIP Max) and it worked really well. Of course, this was just used on an as needed basis in the field or if I was working in the front yard and didn't want to have to worry about him hauling ass after some squirrel . I just clipped his lead to it and had a 17' radius to roam around. I hate to add up the costs of the fencing I had installed for that dog over the years.
