Freeze BBQ sauce?

A number of websites say it's okay to freeze BBQ sauce. Have you tried doing it? What's your experience? Do I need to pay attention to anything special?

I think it would be the same as freezing pasta sauce which I've done before. Just get the air out, either vacuseal or if in a container, cover the sauce with a layer of plastic wrap, push it down so it's blanketing the sauce, not stretched across the container top.THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER

I have frozen that Wild Boar sauce I make for years. It never gets rock hard due too the salt content, but keeps just fine.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Most BBQ sauces freeze really well. Especially the common store bought ones. However there are a few specialty sauces (usually home made) that will not freeze solid. Will turn into kind of a slurry due to some of their additives. However this is not really a issue unless you intend on storing it for a really long time. With that said, freezing is a good way to store large amounts of Q sauce.

Thanks guys ... really appreciate the feedback. The sauce is in the freezer and looks like it's already frozen hard. Had to do something with it since the missus said there was no way a gallon of sauce was going in the fridge.

A gallon? Was that something you made, Tom? From scratch or a recipe?Jeepster47 said:Thanks guys ... really appreciate the feedback. Store bought. Got sucked into the "this here little 18 oz bottle costs soooo much to buy and ship, just look at that there gallon and how cheap it is per oz" discussion in my head.

I hear you! Like the low per unit cost when buying a 50 gal drum of mayo from Costco...Jeepster47 said:Store bought. I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!
