Just preordered the Flame Boss 200

Looking forward to getting this accessory in a couple of weeks.  I waited for the one with wi-fi so that I could monitor the temp from my phone and ipad.  The price was a little more than I wanted to pay--it was twice as much as I sold my old electric smoker for...but I think it'll be extremely useful for the low and slow cooks.

Does anyone know if this will work with any of the various software packages out there for more in-depth look at the various cooks?

  • Chris, thank you for your order. Flame Boss 200 is not compatible with other software. It is offered as a web app that you use from your browser. I will get some pictures posted of the browser this week. You can view graphs of your current and previous cooks. We will add features to the web app going forward. Let us know what you would like to see.

Look foreword to seeing the new information about the 200 wi-fi model.
I believe we met Roger 2 weeks ago at the Austin TX Eggfest. Really nice gentleman…Sounds like he stands behind the product 100%.
Take care and hope to see your product at the Georgia Mountain Eggfest.

Congrats!  I have a Flame Boss 100 and love it.  @MichaelCollins has been wonderful to deal with.  He answered the phone on a Saturday and Good Friday.  He spent the time to walk me through a few custom settings.

The FB100 is perhaps my favorite accessory I have purchased!

I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

I met Roger at The Sunshine State Eggfest couple of weeks ago and he wes doing a demo on the FlameBoss 200. It looked real cool and the web interface is very nice .. something very similar to the interface of iGrill devices. I know it costs a little more than the original FlameBoss, but you get to monitor your temps from anywhwre you have an Internet connection, which I think is very cool.

I was beamoaning the fact that I had the original FlameBoss that I had bought when it was released and Roger told me that I had the most expensive controller they ever made as the parts were very expensive on the first run of the controllers they made and they hardly made any money on them.

I am still torn on whether to get the newer FlameBoss 200 and sell my old one or just keep it as a backup :anguished:

I feel your pain. At least it uses all the same probes and fans. Save you a little as you just need the 200 unit.

Unfortunately .. everything is packaged as a single unit .. fan/probes etc .. I don't think I can convince Michael or Roger to sell as a separate item ... can I .. hoping against hope :-)

I'm sorry, I could have sworn I saw it listed somewhere as just the base unit.

That's the nice thing about the "Boss 200"…It trumps the Boss and the Boss 100.lol

Hi Photo Egg, That was me. Thank you for the kind words. Roger was at the Sunshine State Eggfest that day. I hope to see you again at Georgia Mountain and expecting to have Flame Boss 200s on hand. Thank you to Brenda McKinney and John Hall getting us in the Eggfest.

MichaelCollins    Did you choose to go away from the Type K thermocouples? It seems so from the description I read.

Yes, we switched to platinum resistance thermometer probes because the plugs are more user friendly. These are industrial duty probes that are up to the up to the task, but without the industrial looking plugs.
  • Is there an advantage (warranty, service, etc.) when you order from the FB website compared to a third party seller?

I have not seen any difference, just as long as its NIB and you have the receipt I would have no qualms going legit third party.

  • Thanks @Ozzie_Isaac ! After some research, I think I find a winner with my first temp controller! =)

@BigJonMoo73 I have no doubt you will like it.  We have a lot of great options out there, but the 200 wins for me too, especially because of the simplicity of it!  It does everything the other controllers does, but has a greatly simplified interface.
